I am building a 5" Pansy and like to do the detail, for example the lamps, couplings and vacuum pipes / hoses. Can anybody point me to drawings relevant to these (and other) bits from the '30s and '40s ?

Thanks, Phil

hi phil,

if you allow me a a bit of time i will email drawings of what you require.

the john tipton GWR lamps are excellent and well worth buying as very difficult to make otherwise. for pre 1938 they should be painted signal red for all lamps. post 1938 front lamps were painted white.

here's the scale coupling on my own 57XX 5"g loco which is a heavily modified 'PANSY'dsc00564.jpg

cheers,

julian

Thanks Julian, any drawings appreciated - the coupling looks good. Are the lamps that Blackgates sell any good? they didn't have any at the Bristol show I like to think that I have a well equipped workshop but I do need smaller fingers and better eyes, especially for these fiddly bits. If the lights are ok and the coupling drawing is on its way this really leaves the vacuum brake coupling and steam heating - any info on these?

Thanks a lot, Phil

From 2985 p178-179

Pansy hasn’t any vacuum-brake apparatus, but she
could find a good use for a pump for
feeding the boiler when the -water in
the tanks becomes too hot for the
injector feeding. This is another
indication that -Nature won’t be
“ scaled.”

There's a vacuum pump and relief valve for Keith Wilsons GWR Bulldog/Dukedog in 3649
