829 forum posts 1 photos | I'd be careful what you clean coated lenses with too. I'm pretty sure dish-detergent (washing up liquid) is bad over time also home made concoctions using isopropyl alcohol with or without dish-detergent (ask me how I know). These days, I mostly just run them under the tap (warm water) and lightly swab them at the same time with a paper handkerchief. Then just pat off the excess water with a dry piece of the paper hankie. (I don't rub dry paper hankies on the lenses - bit too abrasive for that). Normally, that's all it takes. Occasionally, if the lenses are really bad, I go the whole hog and, after washing as above to get the dust off, I clean them with proper lens-cleaner and a lens-cleaning cloth. |

![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | Well I 'found' my reading glasses, and I'm using them now. Funnily enough I get a good view of the computer screen, and it's getting better as my eyes are forced to accomodate. I don't know if this experiment will give me a headache... The left eye now sees the screen sharply, enough to be aware of the pixels as a 'texture' (I hate iphone screens as my short-range acuity without glasses means I see the 'white' as a dancing sea of coloured dots, I don't see this with any other type of screen I've encountered). My right eye is still fuzzy looking at the screen, but sharp if I lean a third of the way towards it. so I've made a 'lazy-eye patch. I've also done a bit of crude refocusing (bending) as making the lens a couple of mm closer to my eye made quite a difference -enough that I can read and type with just the right eye. The blooming keyboard is pin-sharp. Hopefully this will let me go to say left eye is fine, right eye needs -0.25 to -0.5 stronger. Neil |

![]() 1377 forum posts 133 photos | Hi Neil My eyes do not match perfectly but the optician corrects each individually, Could it be the person making up your prescription made a mistake? I would go back for a retest. (They can also check the existing pair with a machine against the prescription used to make them up if not I would ask for a new pair FOC). When I Ordered mine I got the lower middle section to start focussing at screen distance in my case about 600mm that is also about right for lathe work the lower section for closer reading means that if have to look down. The upper section is for distance. I also always try to get the largest metal frame aviator style glasses for the best eye protection when I am not wearing safety glasses. The penalty being weight. 615 forum posts 21 photos | Neil, I have exactly the same problem, which makes reading uncomfortable, as a decent distance for my left eye is too far away for my right. I have also been diagnosed with a slight squint, which tends to create double vision, and means I am no longer confident about driving, as I am unsure of my position on the road. Fortunately Debs is a good driver. Regards Geoff |

Are they plastic lenses? Coated? Thanks for the spoiler (haven't seen the race here yet). Wasn't expecting a spoiler in this forum. Edited By OMG on 06/07/2014 17:04:29 |

No, I think I've dramatically lost accommodation since getting the glasses, especially on teh right; the reading glasses were hardly used because of the other pair I had, and I think my 'range' had changed too much by the time I came to use them. ![]() 1181 forum posts 669 photos | OMG, Plastic lenses. Spoiler. I bow my head in shame Did you really expect anyone else to win? He was so fired up after that total brain out of gear cock-up on that last Qually lap! Best of all is having Williams back on form, but lucky escape for two drivers though. Where did they find Bottas? Neil, The West is anti-car from all the bull manure from a lot of people, the latest from dear Boris who wants to ban ALL Classic cars due to their 'polluting' the 'clean' inner-London air. No doubt all the Chelsea tractors and other gas guzzlers will be exempt. There is a protest site up for signing www.classicandsportscar.com/news/general-classic-car-news/the-free-use-of-classic-cars-in-central-london Geoff - Just back from an hour in the dentist's chair, & now sipping Rooibos.
