![]() 2904 forum posts 448 photos | Nice concept, John! Using technology to do what you want rather than just copy old ideas opens up interesting possibilities. Great that you are able to get a custom motor design made up - sounds ideal for your purposes. You should also get smooth and quiet rotation with all that inertia directly coupled to the tool. Looking forward to seeing how you get on! Keep us posted. I've been taking ME and/or MEW for almost 40 years and have yet to make a "model". As you say, it's the UK magazine(s) of choice for "hobby" engineers. Although we are both full time professional engineers, there's no law against also being engineers in our spare time! Murray |

May I politely ask why, if this is your view, what are you doing here on a Model Engineeing Forum? Edited By KWIL on 29/01/2015 10:11:04 I'd have to agree with JS on this, after all, is there anything posted on here by JS that vaguely resembles 'Model' engineering, although all of his postings have some relevance to us all and demonstrate techniques from a professional engineer that can be applied in the home workshop. How about Home Engineers' Workshop as a more fitting title for the magazine? |

![]() 337 forum posts 107 photos | A bit OT I know perhaps we need another....... Most of my biker mates have workshops to greater or lesser degree, I can think of seven immediately that have lathes and four that have millers, all have welding equipment of some sort, plus drill presses grinders etc etc, none buy MEW I've asked!!, I have MEW lying around in my workshop if there's a picture of a bike or car they pick em up, none as far as I know are interested in making machine tools or models!!, all are willing to modify their tools, drill holes in them or whatever it takes to get the job done, they simply treat them as tools, and want to use them to make parts for their bikes cars washing machines or what ever, they all build and or restore show winning bikes, personally I do build models but its a part time thing, bikes remain my passion its the last thing Ill give up, I cannot see me swapping my MV or Fireblade for a Duchess or Princess just yet, but maybe a 9F eventually.......... LMAO Nice Job Muzzer. Edited By Involute Curve on 29/01/2015 11:39:01 Edited By Involute Curve on 29/01/2015 11:39:54 Edited By Involute Curve on 29/01/2015 11:52:40 |

Edited By KWIL on 29/01/2015 10:11:04 Hmmmmm, well if we say that non-modellers shouldn't be here, logically we should also say that non-engineers shouldn't be here either. I suspect that wouldn't leave many members. Andrew |

I've been told I can't change the name - bear in mind we have a symbiotic relationship to ME as its younger sibling, but yes the magazine is not just for modellers. Current strapline "The Essential Magazine for Every Hobby Engineer". A small prize for whoever comes up with the best new strapline. One proviso it has to be 'legal, decent, honest and truthful'. Neil (They wouldn't let me use "better than all the other **** on this magazine shelf" either, for some reason). |
