Many apologies, felt sure I’d bought them individually many years ago when I also bought a sandvik parting tool blade from RileyShutt as mine from greenwood was becoming a bit tired and prone to losing grip on the insert.

The double ended sandvik one can be cut in half, drilled and countersunk to replace the greenwood sourced items, the result is blade a bit shorter overall but it still parts off the same diameter. (This was sometime before sandvik QD arrived)

Using a countersunk screw in shear is not ideal. It would be better with a close fitting dowel at the business end and the screw just behind. Then the dowel would take the shear and the screw would just hold it to the tongue. As you are not trying to make 2 out of one it can be a bit longer.

I Have the same tool purchased from Greenwood some 10 years ago. I bought 10 inserts at the same time. Pic of tool and insert pack below. Fortunately the inserts last for ages but I am now running out as well......

I bought mine 20 years ago with 3 inserts, and I've just started on the 3rd. I can see numbers on the boxes in your picture, do any of them relate to the inserts ?

Hi Rod, if we’re talking about the N151.2-250-5E 1125 inserts, yes I would be willing to share!

John.

What I did in terms of fastener & fastener mounting centres was exactly emulating the original Greenwood setup, just slightly less (& wasted) blade overhang away from cutting tip.

A bit of a bodge but so is much on a smallish lathe (Boxford)

Those are the ones. I'll order a box of ten and we'll discuss who wants what when they turn up.

Cheers,

Rod

With many thanks to Rod - I can confirm that the N151.2-250-5E 1125 inserts fit the older-style Q-cut as pictured below.
