Happy birthday for December Bill.

+1 for David George's suggestion of a steam engine experience day. I had one a few years back for my 60th on the Severn Valley Railway. Great fun and not too arduous, but very memorable!

Happy upcoming birthday.

While younger than you I have had the Steam loco driving experience (At Tyeseley Railway Museum in Birmingham) a day driving a tank, hovercraft, 4x4 etc (at Belvoir Castle) and a flying lesson.

I can't help but think of the late Len Vale-Onslow, a lifetime motorcycle enthusiast, who rode up The Mall to Buckingham Palace on his bike on his hundredth birthday and continued motorcycling until the age of 102!

Happy Birthday Bill. I really hope you don't get the same present i had on my 80th.

A 10pm trip to hospital where they kept me there for 48 hours with no sleep.

My 81st in September was much better with a present of a new book in which i have a whole chapter to myself.

Dek.

Happy birthday Bill.

Another vote for a Steam loco driving experience day. I had one for my 60th at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey railway and thoroughly enjoyed it. Family came along as passengers.

Thanks guys, I did have a driving experience a few years ago at the Avon Valley railway, no reason not to do its again I suppose.

As an exiled Brummie I well remember Len Vale Onslow, his shop was just called Vale Onslow I think.

When I was very young my mom and I spent a lot of time at my Nans house who lived right opposite Tyseley engine sheds.

Bill D.

Not so bad if you remember. Another couple of years and you can do it again for the first time devil

A year ago for my 70th I had a flight in a Tiger Moth at Duxford from my car club mates. That was a fantastic present.

For my 71st I bought my own present, a nice new Caterham 420R sports car.

I shall be 70 next month. If I can survive my granddaughter jumping up and down on me I will be buying myself a dividing head. It doesn't take much to keep me happy.
