I'm just about to send some off to a chap in NZ, if you let me now which ones are missing at your end I'll see if I've still got them and add them to the package. I just scan the good bit and dump the paper, gives me somethig to do around Xmas. Will be very quiet this year with the dreaded lurgy, won't be seeing friends or relatives.

regards

Thanks for the offer but it is only the most recent 5 issues (4649-53), which I'm sure you'll be keen to keep hold of for now. Thanks to Neil I managed to get my copies of the issues that were put on hold during the original lock down.

I'm just waiting for Beth and/or Martin to get back to me. The clock is ticking on my subscription renewal and if I don't get these 5 copies there will be little point in me continuing my subscrption.

regards

Pete

Hi Pete,

We have suffered delayed issues here in the UK with our send lockdown and problems with delays in UK mail.

There should have been no interruption to overseas subscriptions this time, but there will be some delays.

I'll drop you a PM with some other thoughts.

Neil

Thanks for the confirmation that there has been no interruptions to overseas subscriptions this time. Some degree of delay is the norm that's is why I haven't raised the issue earlier but two and half months isn't normal. The last time the notice was in an issue that we weren't to receive so we didn't know.

I have resent my email to Beth

Pete

Pete - I had some dealings with Beth on the 8th Dec + replied within 2 hours that 290 + 13 issues stopped at 302 not 301 but got automated response that she was now on annual leave - and as the UK closes down in 9 days for 2weeks I suspect a long wait.

Thanks, that may explain the lack of a response. Now I'm in a quandary my subscription runs out in two weeks and I’m not keen to re-subscribe if the missing 5 issues aren’t going to arrive.

I’ll give subscriptions a call

Pete

Talking of overseas subs I just got the 6/2020 issue of MiM which is the German version of ME 4 days after the 1/2021 issue so only just over two months late and MTM had nothing to do with it. This also comes in a plain envelope so it's not as though the postal service can see it's a non urgent mag.

I visited my newsagent (Wodonga, Vic. Australia) today for the first time since March as I only usually have two magazines on regular order, both from the U.K. and after reading about distribution problems I sort of gave up on ever obtaining a recent copy in these difficult times.

Well imagine my surprise when the lovely lady told me that they had all my magazines ready to go and there they were! MEW complete from March - October and most of my Aeromodeller magazines.

I felt a bit embarrassed that I had not visited sooner, but with all the doom and gloom forecasts there was no way that I suspected that these magazines had slipped through the hoops. Happy to top up the till for my local newsagent just before Christmas. Didn't even have to wear a mask after months of trying to do the right thing.

So all's well that ends well.

Have a safe and happy Christmas and let's hope that 2021 is a bit nicer than 2020

Regards from down-under * Danny *

I would be *VERY* interested to know if there is a way I could receive the magazines from February / March up until October here in the Netherlands - I've kept up my subscription but most of these never arrived - I am willing to pay extra and postage / shipping even on top of the subs that I have already paid, just to be able to read the missing content.

If anyone has an idea of how to receive these issues, please post me here or e-mail me.

Hi Danny,

Glad (and surprised!) that you magazines were all there.

Hi Trevor,

I suggest you visit mags-uk.com and search for Model Engineers Worksop and/or Model Engineer for a full listing of available back issues.

If that doesn't find the issues you need, place a free classified wanted ad either here on the website or in the magazines.

Neil

I read my copies and then add them to an ever increasing pile in the corner of my office on the vague idea that I will look back through them or access some article or other "in the future".....

Since there are a few people here looking to complete collections, I am happy to move my copies on if you would like to get in touch directly via PM.
One note of caution is that I am based in France so postage costs will be higher than within the UK (I guess!)

Simon

(@moderators, hope I am not overstepping the mark here offering the back issues)
