Better with a cyclone seperator.....the grit can be recycled..

Looks useful for occasional stuff as stated.

I have been toying with a small Vapour blaster idea for a while and have most of the drawings done, in essence they are quite simple machines and by default recycle the media, also they don't require as much air as normal blasters, we have four at work that are 1.5m x 1.2m internally, two are used for general cleaning of various mainly automotive components, but two we exclusively use for our race engine prep before rebuild, depending on media the finish is fantastic, I'm unsure why but after vapour blasting, aluminium seems to hold its finish for ages, even so most of our race engine crank cases now get Xylan coated.

No need, the grit isn't sucked up in the first place. A pleated paper filter keeps the grit in the cabinet only allowing the very fine dust to be removed. wink

This DIY cabinet which uses a clear plastic box with a sealed lid looks good.

Ditto what John Rudd said about fitting a cyclone.

Have one attached to my Clarke cabinet and they work well.

Had to carry out many modifications to the sandblaster unit, as out the box they are pretty useless.

The 'net has loads of advise, plus I added some of my own just to get the unit to actually work properly.

It did the Seven's 17" wire wheels, there being just enough space.

Geoff - More videos up soon I hope 🙏

The only modification made to my Clarke cabinet before it was given to me was a robust steel vacuum attachment.

I was also given a spare gun and some replacement jets and nozzles.

I’d be keen to know how you’ve modified yours OuBallie.

The interest in this design has been surprising, judging by the emails I have received. Following several requests for an article, I will be submitting an article to Neil over the coming weekend.
