I only have a small bandsaw which can be picked up with one hand and sits on top of a milk crate as a base. Could easily be put away when not needed. One of the best investments which I have made. Will cut thru 90mm square steel. 50x10 steel angle in less than a minute.

How would this: **LINK** compare to the Femi 780? They look quite similar I think, one thing they mention about the Nebes is it has cast iron pulleys so you can use cutting oil without the blade coming off. Motors on the Nebes is DC inverter brush motor with variable speed control, the Femi is 2 speed but dont know what type of motor.

The Nebes has a dc motor....with electronic speed control.....

"

Bandsaw Nebes TM 101

the real news in the field of portable band saws to
small size. Fitted with a permanent magnet motor
which develops high torque at low revs. It offers the user
Professional a versatile machine, with variable number of revolutions
and whisper-quiet. The absence of vibrations allows a considerable
accuracy in cutting and a nearly unlimited service life of the engine itself.
The constant power variable speed, controlled by a
newly designed inverter allows you to cut effortlessly
iron, aluminum, steel and PVC."

Looking at the alternative, I'd suggest the same motor but with a different method of speed control....

"The Femi 782XL is designed for dry cutting so no messy lubrication. The 950W motor has digital electronic speed regulator "constant speed" with amperometric limiting device and a 2 speed switch. "

Been in contact with the tech person from the liked shop and he confirmed that the NebesTM101 has a brushless induction motor, he emphasized it was brushless so at about 300euro I think I'm going for it

Speed control for a Bandsaw? Mine has three speeds and I've only ever used one...

Mine has three, and I've used 2. Slowest (steel), and fastest (wood). OK, as a wood saw (with an appropriate blade) my Clarke 6x4 bandsaw is not good, but it's better than not having one.

Regards,

Richard.

To pick up from were we left, I was not entirely convinced by the seller telling me it had a brushless motor, so I contacted the manufaturer and asked for information regarding the motor - the motor is a permanent magnet DC brushed motor with variable speed control, brushes are expected to last 1500hrs. They also claimed the motor is extremely silent (which is a good thing for me as my workshop is in a basement under my house) Based on this information and positive reviews on Italian forums when comparing the Nebes to Femi bandsaws I placed the order for a Nebes TM101 from Italy.

I received the bandsaw yesterday, first impressions is it's a well built little saw. Took a couple of cuts on a 40mm steel round bar - cut clean with a good finish and straight. Their claim of being silent is also confirmed.

The real test will come later on when I'll start chopping up 2x2" box section for 3 benches
