Bruce, I'v been getting my blades from Trade Tools in Christchurch, the blades are made up in the Auckland branch. They used to have a very good welding service in Christchurch, but when the welder became US, all the re-welds go to Ak, and they are not the best. I also use the bi metal variable pitch blades. There is another place in Chch, Thode Knife & Saw Ltd, I might try them if the welding problems at Trade Tools continue.

I still have my Rapidor manchester"nodding donkey" hacksaw & it does quite a lot of my cutting the blades are quite expensive but I never ever pay more than a couple of quid for the blades at steam rallys/autojumbles,I also have the machine mart larger bandsaw, bought 2nd hand!! their blades are expensive & don't last that long, again I look for 100ft coils at autojumbles at around the £25 mark[not so many about now] & make my own up silver soldering the joint & it works out at about just over £2 per blade.[not that I'm a tight sod from yorkshire] I just don't like paying full price if it can be got cheaper.

Hi all,

After a fair bit of research I have ordered one from Warco;

This one: **LINK**

Ordered with a bi metal blade as well which I will fit straight away. Approx £100 cheaper that Axminster so a good saving.

I am pleased that there is a lot of info online regarding modification as I wiil mainly be cutting quite small bits so the vice mod willbe a priority.

Ian

I have had no problems with my United Products ones barring one going blunt after trying to cut a 2" sash weight - (read really hard CI)

Their P & P rate not too bad either

Bruce, I know what chilled window weights are like, the first one never got to the saw or lathe, I dropped it, and it shattered.
