wink
Not a race...

Today it's the 1 -1/16" hole in the top plate, then maybe the valve plate.
Then some fancy nuts for the tops of the columns while I wait for a ball end mill.

Cripes, you're past me already... and I've only be going at it for about 10 or 12 years...

Neil

Not far behind me either, and I've been at it for 20...

Take heart! You are all ahead of me. Three reasons:

1) A major lack of courage.

2) Too many other projects of a less fiddly, and quicker, nature keep coming to mind.

3) Awe at the standard of work that everyone else produces!

Keep at it!

Howard

Thanks for the encouragement chaps.

hmmmm; there was an guy came round the houses in Singapore on a trike with a cane crusher on the front, pint of juice for 5 cents .smile p

Not brave, but you have to start somewhere right?
I'm still getting the little 'could you just.....' jobs so it's not a full time project.
I save the delicate tasks for days I'm not too stoned on morphine.

I like this stage, I can pick and choose jobs as I like. It's the end and all the tricky bits I've put off that seems daunting.

Got the pedestal/cylinder covers/valve and rod done.
Used the new (ish) indexer to mark out the cover holes.

Probably the most recognised bit, the air vessel. Still have to make the flange drilling jig.

ls 20-11-15 (1).jpgAnother week done but nothing very obvious to show for it. Lots of little 'hidden' parts.

Next step, the eccentric strap and rod. I may make the lattice 'rod' from 2mm tube, see how it looks.

This is coming along very nicely. It's prompted me to dig the components of my own 'Lady S' out of storage, with a view to finally completing her .

Hello everyone,

Apologies if this is not the correct forum for raising my question, but please bear with me.

Amongst my late fathers effects I have discovered a partially completed model of the Lady Stephanie beam engine. There are some machined items (air vessel, columns, beam, pedestal, valve, baseplate + others) as well as a selection of raw castings and other material. Whilst I am a qualified mechanical engineer, I'm afraid I just don't posess the appropriate set of practical skills to complete such a small and detailed model.

Rather than pack it all away under the bench, I was wondering if anyone reading this would be interested in taking it over or could recommend a good home for it.

I've no idea of desirability or possible value, but to be honest, I'd like to see it go to a good home to someone who will appreciate and actually finish it in the fullness of time.

Thanks in advance for your feedback and advice,

Nick.

PS: Will post some photographs as soon as I can.
