Perhaps possible to find a wood screw with similar thread and use that as tap. Niko.

The grinding wheels on these cheaper bench grinders do not usually have a very close fit on the arbor. You can possibly improve a bit on the vibration by shifting the stone on its arbor and trying to find a sweet spot. Niko.

Being a Myford from (I guess) somewhere the 1950's, is there perhaps too much play in the headstock bearings because of wear. Niko.

Of course you are right Rod, but raised metric I was learned to use a 127 change wheel, its how I still do it. Niko.

Myford-metric or name it imperial-metric is accurate enough for model enginering but it is not metric. Niko.

I would not except it, you have paid for a new lathe with no damage and this one has damage. They should either take this one back and replace it with a new one in pristine condition or you should get your money back, no ifs and buts. Niko.

Try drilling 1.3mm, open it up with a 1.4mm drill and again with a 1.5mm drill. Niko.
