Thread: cheap digital vernier calipers. |
12/11/2016 21:15:33 |
I recently bought 3 (dont ask why) cheap £7-8 calipers off ebay from china. One is workable, one is difficult and I got my money back on the third as it was utterly useless. I wanted a mitutoyo but theyre just that bit too dear so I splashed out twenty notes an a sealy and it is very nice(moral here is dont get a ultra cheap one from china). I read about the button battery issues a few weeks back, there are calls to ban them from kiddie products and its not hard to see why. |

Phil - I use a vertical woodwork bandsaw for cutting copper sheet, I opt for either 18 or 24 tpi and take it steady without issue so the anser is definately yes. |

I'm here...thanks everyone. What I have at the moment just about scraped through the regs, I have a fused spur from a ring socket to the workshop via 4mm armored 3 core, this goes straight to a double socket and a second 5A switched spur off this for the lights. Some say you shouldn't spur off a spur but the regs seem ok as long as they are fused. Its all clipped above ground, only problem is that when there is a small problem it trips all the downstairs sockets and wifey goes nuts! |

I'm referring specifically to ebay - yesterday my Sulphuric acid arrived, no less than 96 molar (% and molarity are virtually the same for this), this stuff will dissolve human tissue for fun in an instant, through the post in a plastic bottle no less. For under £30 you can make yourself well over 5kg of gunpowder, using the very finest refined chemicals. Its a wonder we don't have a lot more terror attacks than we do. |

If your selling on ebay ALWAYS insist on paypal. It sorts the genuine bidders from the dreamers and you get paid before collection, hence no tyre kickers or bartering. |

Typed wrong - have MCB in spare slot in house !!
|
09/11/2016 20:59:57 |
Hi. Im going to rewire the power in to my workshop. It is 30 feet from the house and I intend to do the spade work myself and get a qualified sparky to finish off and certify. My thoughts so far are to run 6mm armoured cable from house to garage. In the house I cant run the armoured cable straight to the consumer unit as it is plastic, so run it to a stand alone metal box with gland and then from this box to consumer unit with additional earth from cable sheathing/metal box. Have RCD in spare slot higher than that used in workshop so workshop trips first. Im thinking that as the whole lot will be earthed that I dont need to fit an rcd in the garage as the house rcd will cover the lot - is this correct? |

you shouldnt need any coolant so long as you take light cuts. I rarely use it and when I do I use a small hand held spray with straight water. |

Hi Eric - without more to go on such as boiler stamping I doubt anyone will be able to help. Look for numbers and letters stamped into the boiler? Someone might then point you in the right direction |

Well we thoroughly enjoy the whole thing, what's not to like about giving, receiving, sharing and making people happy (each in differing quantities of course) and all in the name of demonic possession? Great for kids!. I don't go trick or treating with the daughter and wife as a smack in the mouth generally tends to offend. |
Thread: silver soldering |

dont go anywhere near it with silver solder or you will surely destroy the lot! Im assuming its for ornamental purposes and not a rare antique, in which case it needs glueing back together - use JB weld. Otherwise it will require expensive professional jewellery repair. |

I recently tried this route but abandoned it as you need a pretty powerful motor and this would have made the unit too bulky for my liking.. |
