Thread: machine Installation service |
14/04/2014 16:51:47 |
Hi My milling machine has seen better days and would like to get a new one. I was wondering if the bigger suppliers ie warco chester etc do a installation service where they install the machine for you the reason I ask this being disabled it would be a very difficult thing to do myself Just wondering if anyone has had this service I live in southeast London Thanks Best Wishes Martin

The hss v carbon taps and die debate has been going on for quite a while I personally buy carbon steel taps and dies for 2 reasons 1 they are quite a lot cheaper than hss and 2 for cutting threads by hand there is no real advantage using hss hss is only better if you cut threads under power I buy my taps and dies from the tap and die company www.tapdie.com Although they are manufactured in India they have got the most modern factory and equipment to make them and they are top quality

Another method I use for getting taps square is very simple indeed drill a hole the clearance dia of the tap in a scrap piece of metal clamp it down with tool makers clamps over the hole to be tapped and bobs your uncle use that as a guide works very well Best Wishes Martin |

I'm probably telling people on here how to suck eggs but always treat grinding wheels with the utmost of respect always do a ring test before installing them and don't over tighten them and make sure they run at the correct speed I say this because many years ago when I was an apprentice in a toolroom I saw a grinding wheel explode {nothing to do with me} resulting in the bits embedding themselves in a wall Best Wishes Martin

Hi Mike I've used m-machine and found them to be very good. www.m-machine-metals.co.uk. Bob.. And on the back of this I placed a largish order which was acknowledged within 24hrs. Its been a week today and I hadn't heard a word from them so I dropped them an email and cancelled the order, within an hour I got this email response from them. Sorry for the delay, (I have cancelled your order) I can recommend them for answering emails but nowt else. I've now placed my order with GLR, I will let you all know how I get on with them. Stew please don't think I'm being disrespectful but don't you think you are being a bit hasty cancelling the order I have often waited for much more than a week for stuff Best Wishes Martin
