Had the identical 150 Emco. Plus a stepper, driver, and Arduino Uno under the bench for ages. Waiting for its project opportunity.

Well I just redrew it to send you a screenshot and the trim function worked as I would expect. Must have drawn it in a more acceptable way. It was the first time I had used the programme. Apologies for wasting your time.

Jason - I actually tried it both ways.( Incidentally the selection sequence is worth a observing)

So if left with a circle and the two tangential lines to trim, I would usually accept a highlighted cutout suggestion, or select my cutting entities and then the portion to remove.

Could not find a way to do it. At least by my accustomed methods?

Trying the demo version. Quite neat.

Confused a little by the "trim" command. Drew a circle with two angled tangent lines attached. Then tried to trim out the inner unwanted portion of the circle from the line tangents. But it would only select and delete the whole circle. What is the procedure please.

Hope I am not premature with queries?

For the cylinder fins :-

If you do not have a 4th axis and could be bothered to make a form cutter? You could helically mill it in the vertical plane. Several basic cam programmes have this facility. i.e. Estlcam.

Muzzer - Further to your post. Take a look at FreeCAD. Lots of tube videos and the omissions above are mostly present and of course it is free.

Bill - If this is the belt driven horizontal head. I tried for a long time to figure it out. In the end I converted it to something else. Not too helpful I know!!

Fabiano - I have one of their Beam engine kits, unused. If that should be what you are looking at? It has the pre-soldered boiler also. For sale at half price if you would like it

Well I have fixed it. Thank you gentlemen. There are two small 5mm screws that "secure" the X axis bearing block to the Y axis carriage. These were "like something in an old fashioned piece of headwear".

As the Y axis screw was covering them, the screw needs to be wound back to the Y axis block after removing the stepper, the two aluminium keeper blocks and unscrewing the coupling shell. The two bearings are pulled off and the Y screw can then be rotated back to expose the 5mm screw positions. It is required to pull the loose table assembly forward about another 2", to clear completely.

Fully degreased the screws and the sockets before fitting star washers and copious thread lock.

Hard to believe that the integrity of my machine relied on two 5mm screws and no washers?

I am a bit protracted here for the sake of any other owners. - If you have exposed spindle steppers, clamp something on there and rock the shaft while checking underneath at these two screws above the Y axis ballscrew.
