Thread: Bench drill press

Those cross vices are pretty hopeless too. It's the only tool I've ever bought that was a complete waste of money. Does anyone know different?

Dave

Couldn't agree more the only thing my cross vice does is make the drill table so heavy I can hardly lift it (old Mending floor standing drill)

My Fiat Camper van has a GVW of 4000 kg and is allowed to do 70 on a dual carriage way.

Posted by martin perman on 23/05/2017 07:54:42:
The logic behind the the van speed restriction is load carrying capacity, I use a Renault Trafic which is capable of carrying one ton and needs more braking distance where as a camper doesn't have that carrying capacity so doesn't need the restrictions

The main reason they don't have the carrying capacity is that they are soooooooo heavy anyway. Brother had an Autocruise tracker on a Fiat Doublo and was overloaded if it had 3 passengers unladen weight was 150 kg below max

I post very little on this site butte wisdom I have gained is just staggering although in my mind I will probably always remain a beginner. I find it very sad when a fellow 'colleague' stops posting for whatever reason. Michael G if you are still following please reconsider your decision.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all contributors for their willingness in share their knowledge and experience.

Had an old Dyson DC01 for years and years in the house. when it finally died I bought a DC24 absolute rubbish after about 12month of continual cleaning changed for a Miele brilliant - A Henrietta ( slightly smaller than henry) for the workshop and decorating building work in use for about 10years + and it wasn't new still going strong , Also have a spare Charles when it does finally die. You can't beat the Numatic

I work with digital photo printers (17,00 prints per hour) and we are changing the side guides quite often as the paper cuts through them - it's really abrasive

What I must say, is that everyone involved in this job showed wonderful dedication; and I don't think I could have been in better hands.

Well said

I couldn't agree more I've just had a knee replacement (hardly the same league I know) but nothing was too much trouble for the staff. why so called celebrities get paid so much and not the NHS staff I'll never understand. Hope you get well some Michael.

In future I won't bother.

Carl I sincerely hope that you 'do bother' in future. I enjoyed the article and the way it was written giving the appropriate credit to your sources. I have now placed your article in my 'must do' folder when those hard to find 'round tuits' become available again.

Thread: Magnetic base LED machine light - WARNING MAY BE UNSAFE

I can second that - our firm purchased a heat press from a so called reputable supplier the heater was 10a 240V - this heater had a centre tap with that cable cut off about 1/4" short of the metal plug with an earth cable connected to an isolated control box - the rest of the machine became live - I condemned the machine ended it's very short life in the bin CE just stood for China Export
