Thread: Getting dings out of brass tubing? |

J Hancock The ding in the outside isn't the prob is where its on the inside |

Just been measuring for seals purposes and the larger size has a wall thickness of 3mm and the smaller 2mm Will the dings/dents spring out or should i heat locally when the plug is near? |
02/08/2017 20:00:29 |
Whatever i put in has to come out of the end it was put in The large tube is 80mm or so so balls that big will be spendy |

I did think about turning a thick steel washer about 1" long with a large radius on its outside rim the exact size of the tube and fastening that to a length of studding and push it in and then i can use the studding to extract it if need be? Do i do it cold or warm it? |

I'm on with restoring an old kismet pump hopefully to use as a quiet pump to top up my car and bike tyres. The cylinders (its a duplex type) have a few dings in them which in the whole scheme of things dont really matter as it has as standard leather seals which will conform to the slightly distorted inner surface. However how would i go about removing the dings? Also does anyone know if i could retrofit modern seals? What types do i need to look for my worry is that with infrequent use the leather will dry out and need constant attention oiling etc |

Has anyone on here got real evidence of how much an electric car costs to charge? not hearsay or manufactures figures but real it cost me 40 units to do 40 miles sort of evidence A company i do work for has just bought a mitsubishi plug in hybrid 4wd car and so far hes not had the petrol engine start up he says it should have a range of 50 miles or so on pure battery. i offered to lend him a electricity meter to see how much it cost to charge he declined as he doesnt want to know.....
anyway has anyone got real evidence in real world conditions Edited By Ian Parkin on 26/07/2017 12:03:05 |

Many ebay sellers dont want the hassle i think It seems to be a woman selling this item which is probably 25kg or so she says she cant even weigh it for me to send a courier and hasn't the means to wrap it securely Anyway its a long way for me to go so if someone is local and can pick up and post then they will be rewarded |

Is there anyone near Hartlepool who could collect an ebay purchase for me and wrap and post it to me? Edited By Ian Parkin on 16/07/2017 11:10:04 |
Thread: Power draw bar for Warco VMC Mill |
12/07/2017 15:30:11 |
I did a conversion to my wm18 machine had to make the draw Bar captive then used a butterfly wrench with a socket on it... its loose so its a manual operation I mounted the wrench on a tripod of bungee elastic to keep it hovering above the draw bar so its just a matter of pulling down actuating the wrench and catching the tool with my other hand works well and so quick |

Are you sure that the hole isn't a taper pin perhaps with a thread in to extract it...when i enlarge the picture there seems to be slight sight of a ring around the hole..the arrangement in your picture is nothing like the colchester feed shaft clutch Cutting and making a collar to span the cut would certainly work but it surely should come out easily |
03/07/2017 18:57:19 |
Chris It sounds like the description of colchesters to removing the feed shaft..there's a spring loaded ball clutch in the shaft..as i remember you loosen an Allen screw and the ball comes out and then the shaft withdraws..any pictures of your set up? |

Theoretically you should use a screened cable connected at Both ends to earth or just the inverter end connected lots of discussion about that practice and which way is correct But I have found in practice no problem in just using 4 core flex cable...I,m now up to 19 inverter driven machines in my workshops |
Thread: Anyone know what this hydraulic pump is or how it works? |
15/06/2017 14:32:01 |
Well i have connected it up and it all works as i expected pumps one way doesn't the other so direction surely be ok. However on my new 30ton ram it only pumps it up to 10 tons on the dial which is calibrated for a 75mm dia ram...no actual psi readings But I'm pleased with it nice and quiet and fast on the ram... Does anyone know what sort of machine something like this would be on? Mr Hancock whats wrong with a positive displacement pump and what am i likely to have? |
15/06/2017 12:33:06 |
I bought this hydraulic pump to try and run my press
Also how do i check rotation of the motor...there's an arrow but no visible shaft or fan....if it pumps out the outlet that must be correct rotation? Or do i need to buy a phase rotation meter? New toy ? Edited By Ian Parkin on 15/06/2017 12:33:43 Edited By Ian Parkin on 15/06/2017 12:34:43 Edited By Ian Parkin on 15/06/2017 12:35:42 |
Thread: Clarke pillar drill, centre main bearing gets hot! |
12/06/2017 21:05:27 |
Best thing to do is to remove the centre pulley turn the motor pulley the other way up and then fit a longer belt and then have 8 speeds or so...less adjusting and wearing parts and noise too Edited By Ian Parkin on 12/06/2017 21:06:40 |
