DMB, It could be that the direct drive pin is disconnected and the backer lever has not been selected leaving the front and rear half of the mainshaft in neutral, so if pin is locked chuck will still turn. Just been down the workshop to prove it so that could be the problem. |

Both my solons are still working (30 plus years) and are quite large , not used for electronics but great for larger work (brass etc). difficult to know where you get something these days that would give you that good a service life. |

I don't know many people in my neck of the woods with missile launchers!!! |

Surely most batteries have the capability to supply currents in excess of that required or the device would not function. The device itself is what determines how much. Just a thought. |
Thread: Harrogate Now Advertised |

yes YEC directed us to the "organisers" but it all seems a bit disorganised considering if you want to exhibit, you need to organise accommodation and there is associated cost as well because the closer you get to the date the more expensive it tends to be, |

Me and my friend have applied to the harrogate show for entry forms some weeks ago and have not received any and contact with the organisers is patchy. Is anyone else in the same situation as time is getting away. |

Thread: Mini Lathe vs. Watchmakers Lathe |

Just wondering why you are using silver steel and not pivot steel I personally don't like the turning characteristics of silver steel and blued pivot steel is produced for this particular job. |
Thread: Lathe turning from the centre outwards |
02/02/2023 21:14:14 |
Turning outwards at the final cut allows you to use a little used part of the tool (sharper) and the geometry is changed. |
Thread: Batteries |

which is why some devices show flat batts but are technically not as the device requires to see a certain voltage which a rechargeable seems to drop below even when it still has plenty of power below that voltage. Apple keyboards and mouse are susceptible to this. Edited By bernard towers on 02/02/2023 10:41:04 |
