I haven't been too impressed with the digital microscopes that I have (and I have 3 or 4 of them). I am considering one of the Chinese stereo zoom microscopes and had thought of making some kind of quick change mounting so that I could move it about.

MSC J&L have them on offer at the moment (till end of August) The 10% cobalt are £2.52 plus vat etc.

I'm sure that people will be charged and I would guess that the punishment will be severe (we have to make an example don't we?)

To be honest I am not sure how I stand on this. Whilst people have been injured and this is indeed very serious, I also feel that this is an accident albeit one caused by stupidity / carelessness, it is probably safe to say that none of the parties involved intended this.

If I look back through my life and think of all the stupid things that I have done and gotten away with, it makes me realise how lucky I am to still be here not to mention not in prison. I have certainly on more than 1 occasion driven at more than 60 in a 30 limit (a long time ago!)

The irony of course is that the people owning and driving these cars are in many ways like the people ion this forum. They will be familiar with many of the things we have and use in our workshops and would no doubt be applying many of the skills we use.

It is more a shame that there is no better and safer space available.

I have never bothered with anything like that until I recently changed to using neat cutting oil. Suddenly cuts seemed to become infected and my skin was irritable.

I went for Rozalex Dri Guard and also bought disposable gloves and after a short time getting used to using them I have noticed a big difference.

I may try Tough Hands next as having only used one product I have nothing to compare to.

It was certainly a worthwhile change to make.

That all seems a bit agricultural to me.

I have just made a bolt for my 1 5000 scale engine that I am building on my 1902 Drummond lathe.

The bolt measures 57 nanometers in diameter and is accurate to 5 picons (can I call them that?)

I am happy to send it for inspection.

I did mine years ago. I can't remember what specs mine were but since a 12nm is raising the knee of my bridgeport clone I can't see you having any trouble at all with the motors you have suggested. I don't see any point in spending the extra money on servos unless you want to terrify yourself watching the thing fly around in a blur.

Does your triac have the tool changer?

I'm not sure either but I have a strange desire to buy it.

This must be some kind of as yet unclassified mental illness and I suspect there are others on this forum that suffer from it.

Do you have piles of random junk scattered here there and everywhere?

I wish UCCNC would go more lathe friendly I use a UC300 at the moment on the lathe running mach 3.

I have emailed them several times regarding spindle sync (it works on the mill version for tapping) but they always reply that there is no interest in lathes etc. I haven't tried the software though.
