Thread: Duty Cycle for a Chester Champion V20 Mill ? - part 1 |
08/09/2013 23:31:59 |
Hi Peter. I have owned a Chester Champion 20V for over two years now. The mill gets lots of use and often for quite long periods, but i have NEVER had cause to run at over 1000 RPM, and have never used the high range, so perhaps that is why i have had no problems !!!! Cheers Derek. |

This morning (or early afternoon) a member of this forum came to visit me at men in sheds. Unfortunatly i was at the doctors with my wife, and the chap who wrote down the details of the visitor lost them,so i have no idea who it may have been. If whoever it was reads this thread, would you please send me a PM. Cheers Derek. |

Yep ! very sexist, just like the WI and the "knit & natter" group at our local health center who don't want blokes around. We don't ban them really but we just don't have any lady toilets etc. They often call in to order various items to be made, and often stop for a brew and a chat, but so far (3years) none have asked can they stay to work on a project. Cheers Derek. |

Hi folks. I agree with all the comments about "facefingy" and "twaddle" BUT not about "men sheds" Age UK run "Men in Sheds" in a number of areas in the north west. I am a volunteer at the Crewe shed, where we have well over a hundred chaps (55 or older) who attend on a fairly regular basis. We mainly do woodwork, but recently bought a seig SC3 from Arc Euro as did the Northwich "shed" and quite a few of those who attend are keen learners. I know of two other "sheds", one in Chester, and one in Ellesmere Port. All are thriving workshops. Cheers Derek. P.S. Google Men in Sheds/UK |
Thread: Using a Fly Cutter to face aluminium. |
15/08/2013 19:32:31 |
Hi Chris. I use a lathe profile tool in the fly cutter for all my fly cutting now. No more sharpening, just turn the insert round a little when it shows wear. Brass, ally, steel, cuts them all just fine. There are two more photos on the subject in my photos. |

Hi Neil, I have a pair of the ER32 jobbies and for most jobs, butting the end of the closing nut up to the vice jaws is all you need for quick indexing. Don't get too big headed John, but they are one of THE most usefull bits of milling kit i have come across. Cheers Derek. |

After watching that film i thought i would see if there were any films of Crewe works early days and found one from 1911. Watching that would give any "elf n safety" men an instant heart attack. Sorry but i don't know how to put a link to it, but if you go to You Tube and type in "Crewe Works" you should be able to find it no problem. Cheers Derek. |

Spot on Ian. I only ever go there when my older sister visits, and that is rare these days as she is now 80 years old. I think they are about to make lots of alterations to the place though,, as they are getting ready for the high speed link. They have allready knocked down the old PO sorting office. Cheers Derek. |

Hi Rob. The one i am refering to is RDG item No.4453404. I don't know how to put a link on here, so maybe someone who does know will put one on, or just type in "RDG" on google then enter the above number in the search box. If that is the one just do as explained in my first post. Sorry but i don't know if spares are available. Cheers Derek. |
09/07/2013 22:12:07 |
If the post is an RDG item, then you just push in the clamp and then pull out the cam pin. It may take a bit of jiggling around, and a firm grip on the cam pin whilst pulling but it should come out. Cheers Derek. |
