I'm trying to cut a 5BA thread on 1/8" stainless steel rod held in the 3jaw lathe chuck. The die starts to cut then the rod slips in the chuck marking the rod. Would I be better off using a 1/8 c0llet chuck.

Thread: Vickers Bl 8 inch Howitzer cannon of 1917

Thread: Uncomplicated Steam Boiler for first wobbler please
27/01/2019 09:54:25

If you are unsure of your silver soldering capabilities why not buy a cheap Mamod system from flea bay or your local auction house. Don't forget to pressure test the boiler though.

Thread: Given the Elbow
23/10/2018 15:35:30

It was a Stewart Hart design published in ME August-September 2011

Looking at the link above it looks very similar.

100 mm flywheel, not bad for a conquest super (now superior) with an 80 mm chuck.

All that's left to do is to get it running.
