Thread: Powering a Suds pump?
06/06/2022 20:45:30

What horse power is the motor, there is a list of values in the Workshop Practice Series No. 24, Electric Motors in the Home Workshop by Jim Cox.

For .25 hp it's 10 micro farad loaded or 7.5 lightly loaded.

In my downloaded catalogue from 2019, the drawings are £20 and set of 12 castings £468.

I dare say the prices have increased since.

Andrew,

On my Flott high speed bench top drill, the pulleys are easily swapped over, a pin spanner releases the pulley from a slotted taper.

Thread: Which adhesive to use
29/11/2020 21:32:59

When I made mine probably 18 months ago, used Gorilla Glue Clear, no problems so far. Left the dressed belt side out gluing on the rougher side. Best lathe update I've ever done.

Thread: Electronic Lead Screw Project

Further update.

Somewhere along the line of building and installing the ELS I missed or skipped the Part 7 Video by Clough42 see

on metric and hybrid threading. In this video he cuts imperial threads on an imperial lathe using a thread dial indicator ( ie opening and closing the half nuts ) and metric threads leaving the half nuts closed and reversing with the forward/reverse switch on the lathe itself.
The reverse function on the ELS control box he uses for left hand threads.

So problem solved I think.
