Vee Belts if correctly aligned will last years first option is belt dressing spray - prevents / reduces slippage and therefore running temp second option check Tension - google for the correct deflection distance if the above are good and good alignment then the only heat generated is as the belt is creating slight friction as it goes around the pulley's, they are designed for this Easiest way to check for alignment is either a straight edge or piece of string to use the string simply rotate by hand 1 pulley trapping the string under it, rotate to a mid point and now pull the string tight across the other pulley, look at the faces (edges of the pulleys and adjust until the string when pulled across both pulley's touches across both at the same time Trevor

Hi on the industrial ones I work on its usually the frequency generator that fails, as you say everything else appears to be working - however on domestic ones I have no idea what or where the generator would be located Trevor |
Thread: Cost of Stamps to Increase |
21/02/2020 14:54:29 |
The cost increase is due to the improved security side of things, I was at 1 of the printers the other week servicing the equipment.

Have a look at the double barrier range of glands (usually in Brass) they have a min 15mm thread as 5mm is required to be in contact due to the their application Trevor |

I Use Lastpass its free and secure as any other where it will generate unique passwords for you as well as auto fill the details if you want it to it assesses the strength of the password and sit there in the background waiting for you to open a site and it will ask if you want it to complete the username and generate a password it was was recommended by my son who is a professional computer programmer I have been using the basic version (free) for several years now

Thread: What Did You Do Today 2019 |

Hi George, Bri I purchased the same unit from Warco and they only come in White/cream, its the same company that supply's both outlets, Bri, have a look at my album where I fitted the same unit onto my WM 16 and had similar issues but it does work well and yes it is slightly noisy but that's because of the poor quality of the gears - seem to be different profiles and dont mesh as they should for me its not an issue as I dont use it frequently to be a problem - one day I will make my own gears and throw the supplied ones away if you want a spare end plate casting I have it put to one side as I never used it or the other parts like the trough and the centre stop assembly cheers Trevor

The bottom line with ISO 9000 was you simply had to say what you do and do what you say - then document it so if its a lawn mower that cuts grass then it needs to be a lawn mower that cuts grass nothing more nothing less or it becomes a non compliance then you get into the Bull S... side of things

Many thanks to all of you, The ref to orange plastic was my feeble attempt to understand what my son was asking about as he did quote wave length and the like but it went over my head know where he should start with obtaining such safety equipment? I will mention about the venting of the vapours/fumes as this is quite a good point to be taken into consideration as well as the eye protection both on and off the equipment Once again thank you Trevor |

Evening all, my son is designing a CNC laser cutter/profiler for his hobby and has asked where he can get some Orange coloured plastic to put around the laser as a form of eye protection basically so you dont hurt your eyes when watching it cut I guess to act similar to burning/cutting goggles but for laser emmitters
any help please Trevor |
Thread: Warco WM16 Powerfeed |
29/10/2019 18:56:21 |
Hi John That is a valid point and under normal circumstances I would fit said switches but 1. I have the extended bed length and together with the max speed feed rate it takes several seconds to traverse one end to the next 2 the lost room taken up by the location of the reversing switch is quite excessive when taking into account I only work on small projects Even on rapid traverse it still takes approx 15 seconds to travel full distance So for me its just not worth the hassel vs the rewards by paying attention to what I am doing trevor

Hi George, very nice, honestly yours would have been beyond my abilities, so this is what I ended up with
just had to add a stand off plate to get the drive gear in the right position as shown below and we were good to go Not sure that I am going to fit the auto return end stops and switching gear tho' 1. takes up quite a lot of room 2. I will always be there operating it so the chances of it traversing that far is quite slim

So with the handle removed the first problem was the shaft size vs the gear bore not a sliding fit - more a throw on from a long distance so I machined a bush This at least got the gear fitted nice and true next keywayed the bush keeping it in the collect next onto the actual main body but thats for another day trevor

Also I couldn't see any form of suppression on any of the contactors, I have uploaded photo's of the insides in an album, unfortunately they have ended up upside down and I can't rotate them either way as usual this forum came up trumps

But by putting the schematic that john posted with my schematic it made it easy to understand how it had been wired so a very useful piece of information trevor |

When opening the back cover I did find this photo which shows the schematic is slightly different in that I have a couple of breakers and not a fuse or contactor |
