Pity that when the muddrators decide to employ their own standards and delete comments, that they don't have the courtesy to inform, via PM the perpetrator. Regards Ian. |

Ash might be the UK material of choice BUT in line with the rest of my obviously miss placed humour doesn't rhyme when applied to the 'English?' one with regards to Mice and Clocks. Regards Ian. |

Recently had to search for a new hard drive for a freesat recorder. Search box immediately aimed me to Amazon. A few clicks later, the exact same item on 'the flee' £1 cheaper and free postage from a company in Wales and was duely ordered from them. Couple of days later I managed to catch the package before it hit the floor (not good for H/Ds) and was surprised to see, not only was it in Amazon package but compliments slip also Amazon but with suppliers name and address on the slip. Still £1 cheaper and no automatic 'Enrolment' to 'Prime'

There is no such thing as a stupid question. Regards Ian. I have two avatar signatures on other forums 'You might not like what I say, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong' and 'I didn't say what you think you heard'. Edited By Circlip on 10/03/2022 10:15:42 |

Within reason, anything goes in 'The Tea Room', with the exception, and rightly so, POLITICS. Enough flak can be generated by some of the snowflake brigade if there's an R in the month. The note, 'If thine eye offends thee - - - - - ' springs to mind. On the bottom of every posting there is a button marked "Ignore member" Figure. Regards Ian. On the save whatever kick, I would gladly save the Penguins, but I'm afraid the Tigers I'm already saving would eat them. Edited By Circlip on 10/03/2022 10:09:37 |

Don't really need a pointy end to tie on a bit of string to check verticals. And don't forget, a lathe is far more complicated to set up to ensure hole is EXACTLY central to diameter than a vice (vise) and a hacksaw. Regards Ian. |

My machine answered with the reply "Hello" and a three or four second delay to allow t'other end to start rabbiting. After this pause, the recording then stated "Stop, you are speaking to a machine" followed by the usual name rank serial number telephone number drivel. Regards Ian. |

Strange (or not) how some manufacturers need to design unique parts of their products to ensure customer loyalty. Perhaps the arcing problem could be overcome by connecting the charger to the product before plugging it into the mains? Bet Apple haven't thought to put this in their bible. Regards Ian. |

Dave, can safely affirm that all 365 series DMUs supplied by Leyland Bus were so fitted and the 465 series similar as far back as the early 80s. Was called down to the temple of rail wisdom (St. Peters house, Gower street,Derby) mid to late 80s to advise layout, construction and sample of effluent pipework to fit existing southern network stock and supplied within a week. Although said samples were supplied in the time scale, I had a stand up verbal battle in the Derby boardroom with one of their 'Designers' as the fancy bends shown on their drawings were replaced, due to the time scale, by lobster back bends. Had to drag him down to the shop floor to prove his 'perceived' weld spike blow through welds on the inside of the pipes didn't occur with Argon backing when welding Stainless. Tooling required to achieve ' Arty farty' design was at least 16 weeks away to bend 3 and 4" dia. Stainless 'Tube'. Had many skirmishes over the years with head office due to some of their straight out of college no manufacturing experience 'Designers'. Egg, pin and Grandfather springs to mind. Regards Ian. Long time since 'Waste' was discharged onto the track UNLESS heritage line coaches haven't been converted. Stainless Steel 'collection' tanks installed under the three car DMUs serviced by vacuum extraction equipment back at the overnight service facilities at the depot. Used to supply them, and connection pipe work for BREL. Regards Ian. |

Just as another clue. If you look at the black boxes, they seem to be a standard design that the two halves snap together. When shortening the lead to supply a dash cam, it was easy to unsnap them and its easy to determine + and -.

Wonder how many 'Prised collections' have ended down the local tip/recycling centre on the demise of their owners? Sadly, in many cases, some information drops into obscurity, never to be seen again UNLESS some 'Squirrel' has managed to rescue such. Over the last ten years and I offer no excuse OR apologies for reprocessing more than 4K Model Aircraft/Boats and engineering plans FREELY and deposited on some FREE download sites, unlike the fleebuy thieves. Mentioned before on this site, (Oh for an efficient 'Search' facility), The late Sir John asked some of us if we would be prepared to scan, FOR FREE, MEW. My 80 original and fully paid for mags via W.H.S. take up about 2ft. (600mm) on my shelves. Despite an affirmative answer from ALL of us, this was declined by the 'Accountants'. Given the chance of a profit to be made,, said accountants decided to get a 'Proffesional' company to do it and what a pigs ear that turned out to be. Out of sequence/missing pages, plans etc.. Later, I was 'gifted' a 130mm dia. plastic disk containing 165 issues. For Holiday reading, which has gone to sunnier climes with me OR is used as a standard reference? Regards Ian. PS., if anyone wants a FREE copy of Vic Smeeds 'Water Baby', the cost of a PDF of this original FREE plan is now around £15, an e-mail address will furnish said A3 PDF via PMs. PPS. Thanks to one kind Gent on THIS forum, he loaned 20 of the issues of one extinct mag for preservation. Isn't there a clue printed on the white box John? Think it shows the input and output connections otherwise contact the supplier. Unlike international thread sizes (Don't even go there) there doesn't seem to be one for far eastern electronics manufacture. Regards Ian. |
