Thread: Measure twice — Cut once |
09/06/2022 10:53:41 |
It's Happened before David and there was postings recorded before mine after the deadline time on other threads. However, redacted version Nigel, try heater/blower box, it's hidden in there on my Rumanian Renault (Dacia) Regards Ian. |

I hoped my posting after Nigel's would have been of some assistance to HIM but yet again, a muddy rator has deleted it without explanation.

Thread: Extra Royal Mail Delivery Charges |
29/05/2022 09:16:27 |
And if you do get a refund, make sure they pay you in coin of the realm and not postage stamps. If the rules are there for undelivered mail back to sender, wonder how the PO hold auctions? Regards Ian. |
Thread: Nut Making |
29/05/2022 09:06:06 |
Before many throw their hands up in horror, until we became a nanny state, this was how Britain generated an Empire in our own slave shops as any who were apprentices sixty years ago will attest. Regards Ian. Edited By Circlip on 29/05/2022 09:07:22 |
Thread: How on Earth Do I Sort This Lot Out?! |

Wireless World did a combined mast head anemometer/wind direction article back in the day and sure that Maplins (RIP) did weather station kits. Regards Ian. |
Thread: New-style cover finish |
21/05/2022 08:51:42 |
Surprised no one from the printing trade has replied. The use of the 'glossy' finish papers that have been used for many years means that the ink printed on them never 'drys'. I have mags going back to the sixties that the printed words can be smeared due to the print not being absorbed into the paper surface due to the paper surface pre treatments, unlike newsprint. Why? cos it's easier to wash out in recycling and gives a 'cleaner' pulp for re-use. Regards Ian. |
Thread: Cheap stuff |
13/05/2022 10:50:21 |
Steve lad, keep thi gob shut. Let them as wants to pay throo t' nose gerron wi it. What I find amusing is the lengths some will go to to try to achieve NASA and RR standards of accuracy in our hobby. I often wonder how LBSC and our previous metrological lepers managed to get anything to work without working to four decimal places and how do you calibrate a pair of calipers to these limits?
Regards Ian. |
Thread: Tyres |
13/05/2022 10:36:46 |
My 'cheap' Romanian Renault has a light on the dash telling me to 'Check tyre pressure' . Don't know how it can sense this, standard wheel nuts so there must be an inertial gravitational balance system built into the dashboard???? Yet another waste of electronic gizmo programming on modern cars. Regards Ian. |
Thread: Emergency Radio Format |

Thread: Aircraft General Discussion |
19/04/2022 09:34:10 |
According to the news, a big Antonov flew over the south Bradford area between 8 and 9 am on Sunday 17th, must have been quiet cos I missed it, however, early evening on day before, something heavy flew across which gave the impression that the Vulcan is alive and kicking. Didn't get up to look but anyone else saw it? Regards Ian. |

Thread: 400mm V band clamp, how to make? |
10/04/2022 12:28:33 |
You're looking for "Vee clamps", used to make thousands at 'Smith & Johnson' taken over by 'Eminox'. These people may be able to help :- https://abbeyclamps.co.uk/products/bolt-clamps/v-band-clamps/. Easy to make if you have a ring roller with shaped compression rolls. Regards Ian. |
Thread: Imperial v Metric Measures |
10/04/2022 12:16:45 |
in skools, cms are taught cos you only have five digits on each hand, 100mm would cause a brainstorm. But for 100mm in inches, you only need one hand with one digit spare. Regards Ian. |

02/04/2022 08:57:02 |
C'mon guys, don't you like to rise to a challenge? Took more than 20 replies to find out the thickness (sic) of the material we were trying to bond. Dentistry springs to mind. Regards Ian. |
