Thread: Tool dilemma!! |
08/10/2015 16:06:04 |
Hi Clare If you can email me some photos, I could give you an idea what stuff is worth and where to sell it. I am not a dealer but am a previous editor of Model Engineers' Workshop. I helped several people dispose of surplus tools when editor, one chap got well over twice the amount a dealer offered. If interested, send me a personal message by this website. Thread: Climb Milling |
07/10/2015 16:58:28 |
I am a practical person and I sometimes use a key. However, the key does not have to be in the cutter. Put the key on the arbor nearest the nut but not engaging the cutter. This will stop the nut unlocking whatever way the cutter is rotating but will probably not break the cutter if it has a jam up. Edited By David Clark 1 on 07/10/2015 17:02:05 |

Just nip up the slide locks sufficiently to introduce enough drag to stop the table being pulled onto the cutter. |

Thread: why spider? |
04/10/2015 12:55:55 |
A spider for the lathe usually has three bolts placed radially so soft jaws can close on it to be bored to suit the work. The article linked to above is just a flat back stop with slots cut to clear the jaws. |

You could make a new mandrel with the correct thread. The surplus original threaded items would find a home on Ebay. |

Faceplate would be best and machine bore and outside diameter at the same time. |
Thread: WARCO WM-250 lathe family and WM16 mill - 001 |

I prefer front mounting for the X axis as long as I can use the slide lock. Wind the table all the way to the right and mark with felt tip pen at the left making sure the mark is on the top and bottom of the table, cross slide. Wind slide all the way to the left and measure the distance between the two marks. This is the longest travel the slide can do and will be the minimum length of slide + about an inch for the end mountings. the Warco x travel is 480mm so you need a minimum of a 500mm slide.warco only go up to 500mm but arc euro trade do a 600mm one. The Warco Y axis travel is 175mm so I would use the 200mm slide. I------------------------I I Measure between the two marks above. Edited By David Clark 1 on 02/10/2015 20:07:28 |

If it is soft soldered the temperature may melt it. It does not matter what pressure it is designed for, you will have to test it at the pressure you need plus the safety factor. |

Hi Harold I always allowed 2000 words per page and 8 photos per page. Drawings I allowed 8 per page (individual components) but obviously A4 drawings might take more room. Depending whether they were original components or assembly drawings. It does look like the series is too long to publish. |
