Isn't Coleman fuel more like petrol? I thought Coleman lamps and stoves worked differently to the Tilley and Primus principle.

I'm currently using Caldo "Premium". It's an improvement over the greenhouse heater stuff from B&Q, but still leaves a little to be desired as described earlier.

Does the lamp work OK now? I've had problems getting my Tilley's to work as they did some years ago.

Flames outside of the mantle, pulsating and not very bright light.

Cleaned and changed everything, including new vapourizers without much luck. The only thing that seems to have changed is the fuel. Esso Blue and Aladdin Pink worked fine years ago.

Any thoughts welcomed.

Wouldn't be without mine on the pillar drill. Some sort of sub-plate might be possible, but the thread is quite long. You may be able to shorten the thread to suit both applications, as it's way too long for my drill table.

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but on the subject of KITY machines, does anyone know if there any suppliers of KITY spares out there? A 1637 Planer Thicknesser in particular.

As suggested, I'd leave the oxidized finish. My Monitor and Optimus stoves have been like it for as long as I can remember and still function OK.

Does the EITB exist today in some form? My guess is no. Practical training seen to have gone awry somewhat these days, unless it's a training scheme to get the unemployment figures down.

If I'm correct, it's part of a "James Walker" kit for making O-rings from strip material and Super Glue.

The O-ring cord would be put through the corresponding hole and a razor blade pushed through the slot to cut the cord square. The ends of the cord would then be joined using Super Glue.

I'm not sure how successful it was, but lining up the joint was hit and miss affair, although the vee grooves on the end of the tool were supposed to help with alignment. Plus, the joint line would be quite brittle.

Fine for emergency repairs I guess.

I would hazard a guess that the cyclist would be to blame, as they shouldn't be there in the first place, and if the pedestrian was injured, the cyclist would be liable to pay compensation, plus a £50 "on the spot" fine for riding on the footpath.

I sort of get the idea behind the "Dutch reach", but as has been said, the example doesn't illustrate it at all, especially when the cyclist (an adult at that) is on the footpath. I'm not sure of the exact wording in the Highway Code, but no one is allowed to ride a bike on a footway unless it is specifically designated for cyclists. Such as, shared and divided paths.

Hello Derek, I'd be inclined to use a proprietary corrosion inhibitor. Providing you're prepared to remove it prior to paint.

Presumably you've tried Moore & Wright? I think they're part of the Bowers Group these days.
