Thread: Myford ML7 Jack nut spanner problem

Excuse my ignorance, which one is the jacking nut?

I had a dymo label printer which was very good, when it finally bit the dust I bought what appeared to be an almost identical model from Lidl. Beware; the newer models are no longer transfer printers but thermal, so you can no longer get white on black writing (which as I was doing an instrument panel was what I required), only black text on various colours. And if you use it on anything that gets warm the label goes black!

I've got limited space and I don't want something messy. Real world practicality would be a key area of interest to me, and ease of setup for a novice.

Yes it does look like the sort of thing used in sugarcraft or baking.

With the greatest respect it does sound like a difficult way of cracking the nut.

Maybe a memory stick rather than a DVD player. I don't have a DVD player and most a lot of laptops are made without them now.

Have you gone through all the linkages and checked for excess play? It all adds up.

Thread: How close have you got to a Darwin Award?

I nearly had a scaffold pole through my windscreen once. On playing back the video around 12 inches to the left and I would have been killed.

I used to have a lot of dangerous hobbies until a bad landing during rallying did me some internal mischief that took a long time to repair. I stick with steam engines now, and make sure the water is always well above the nut...

Thread: Is a bath sponge suitable as temporary fix for car air filter?
18/01/2023 21:38:21

Is the car french by any chance? Seemingly a french design technique is to put the air inlet low to the ground for cold air, I've noticed it more on my french cars than other brands.

Thread: identifying wheels
08/01/2023 18:10:51

I think they were a generic wheel by Stuart not intended for one specific locomotive.

Found on the internet:

"Stuart Models produced accurate scale reproductions of standard wheels on the locomotives of British Railways. The moulds were made with great care from patterns prepared from drawings of the original wheels with the material being fine close-grained cast-iron, free from blow holes. There were three types of wheel produced: Type A, which is inside driver, Type B which is outside driver, outside coupled and Type C Bogie Tender Wagon:

Welcome Raymond! Reduced social lives have certainly had more of an impact than I ever would have expected. As said, you are among friendly people here, the very warmest of welcomes.

This for me also. It took me far too long to realise it.
