pgk

It wasn't meant as an attack on you personally it was just an observation of the actions some have the effect on others. My comments would have been a lot more harsh otherwise.

I apologise if you thought otherwise but as you said about planning ahead many have done and are doing that, by purchasing much larger quantities than usual and then taking up delivery slots to keep topped up, this is denying those who have to live week by week because their pensions dictate that and also those who prefer not to be selfish but I guess that is the world we live in.

Mine and my wife's health is such that we are not on the shielded list but if god forbid we come down with the virus and a decision has to be made who gets a critical bed we lose out and besides based on the stats we would not be in the 10% that recover hence I will not go to the shops.

My daughter did a small shop for us at the beginning of the week but was unable to get some items and my son did one yesterday but again couldn't get the same items, we can't get a delivery slot even though I have stayed up until 1:00 am trying on the 5 sites that deliver in our area.

I don't know when our son and daughter can do another as my son has had a new addition to the family, a 5 week old girl and my Daughters eldest son has had an operation to adjust his bite, a culmination of 10 years of braces and adjustment leading to an operation which broke his jaws in 4 places and his mouth wired up for a few months, the op was 4 weeks ago, so they are both very nervous about doing too many trips to the shops.

So that is the other side of the coin, I'm not calling those who 'stockpile/ plan ahead' names, it is their decision, they do whatever they decide to do to protect their own families, all I am saying is that every action has an effect whether it's good or not it's just sad that there are many who are in my position and much worse.

Sorry for the tome, just had to get it off my chest.

I anticipated this and got major supplies in well before it all kicked off. We've got about 3-4 weeks left but that's when I anticipate the peak around here so i want stocks to get over that hump. We all do what we think is best

And with all and sundry doing the same leaves empty shelves for those of us who did not stockpile!!!!

Our towns' surgeries have been phone only and no appointments for the last 2 weeks.

I'm afraid I found it rather "baroque". Very skillful work and extremely well filmed - but:-

Who'd want a playing card press? And such an elaborate one? Some sort of showman gambler? And what for? I should've thought dogeared cards would be beyond any refurbishment it could deliver.

Still, it demonstrated some valuable marking-out techniques that I'd forgotten the value of, though I don't think I could ever do any such chasing.

I think you'll find it was a paid for job. smiley

Try tilting it slightly, 5mm from the plate one end to 10 or 15 mm the other end, should reduce the suction from the fep on the lift. Temperature also plays a part, resin temp of 27c or warmer is best. and then play with the layer times if that doesn't work but only one change at a time. wink

Neil,

Yes the warping is apparently a known issue with the printer's Z axis. On my printer there is some shift in the Y axis (~0.5mm), even though it doesn't have a Y axis and the inital layer heights are inconsistent ...the first layers resemble puff-pastry.

This is called elephants foot due to the extended time required on the initial layers, lifting the item up by 5mm and using supports, preferably with the Prusa slicer (and then export with supports into Chitubox) should cure that. Might need a bit of experimentation. Plenty on YouTube about it.

Well that puts a cap on it, car failed the MOT and the garage is closing down for the foreseeable future so no home deliveries, can't do click & collect and too far to walk to the shops for a sizeable shop, no taxis and no buses! sad

Life is so good. crying

Just tried to book a slot on Morrisons and Sainsburys and non available so I guess it's defy the self isolation and risk getting the virus or starve to death, I wonder how many healthy families have done big shops and then taken up the delivery slots to keep topped up? I suddenly don't like this world we live in much crying

Listened to the news tonight and I have to admit Boris has gone up in my esteem but those, I can only call them morons, gone out for the day to the beach or to climb Snowdonia! How much contact will they have had with others, both at wherever they are but also, possibly, on the journey there and back and then Sunday football and fitness training, the one saying saying yes but it's fresh air as he does pull ups on shared equipment with bare hands.

The mentality of these people leaves me grasping for words that can be printed angry

The last time I was involved with weight lifting and carrying the elf & safety requirements were put on the individual as in ' do not lift and carry any heavier than you can comfortably manage' thus if you hurt yourself it was your fault for overextending yourself.

The carrying a body for 25 yards is correct and we do have female firefighters here, I failed when I tried back in the 90s' due to partial colour blindness crying

When you come on to basic pension at 70 or whenever you will understand what it's like, to make a comment like that will just inflame those of us already retired with plenty of time but little in the way of income, my hobby is/was financed from the sale of my previous hobby ('O' scale narrow gauge model trains) which were sold at a much greater price than they cost and is still occasionally financed through buying stuff and selling for a small profit. I don't/can't touch our pensions as that required for day to day living, we don't go out for meals, pub, holidays, we just exist with our two rescue Scotties so please think before you write half *ssed comments. wink

21/03/2020 11:52:27

Well said Ady, I'm totally willing for you to put your money where your mouth is, obviously you have loads of it where some of us struggle by on basic pension.

I know, lets have it means tested, those who pay tax have their rate upped to 70%!!! Now I call that fair.

My last word on this stupidly thought out comment.
