Is opening the hole out and threading larger an option? You could then loctite a Threaded Bush in Jim |

At work we have to use an exact spec of Loctite (I forget the grade). The bottles have to be logged and the exp date recorded. This is just to hold a press fit bearing in place.
At home I'm happy to buy out of date Loctite and use it until its gone!

Thread: New Prusa 3D Printer |

I have a couple of the Creality CR10 MAX printers at work, 450mm x 450mm x 470mm build volume.
For the price (£450 each) hard to beat!

Thread: Gap bed |
07/01/2022 14:00:35 |
Well I finally had to take out the gap on my Chester Crusader. I needed to use the face plate and needed the extra space. This in turn lead to me having to make an extension for the QCTP. It had not occurred to me before how long the gap was. Pleasingly, the extension holder worked very well. The holes for the locating dowels were ridiculously oversize, but I have managed to get the gap back in.
At least now, I'll be happy to pull it out!

I have ran my Crusader off a 3 pin plug with no issues at all.

I've had a Crusader deluxe for 9 years. I have to say its an excellent machine. I added a VFD a few years ago znd it's totally transformed the machine. I'd certainly recommend this upgrade, it wasn't cheap to do, but more than worth the effort.
Changing speeds with belts is ok, until you need to chage speeds a lot! My purchase was based on biggest machine I could fit in the space I have.
I've also got a Sieg SC4, which is used less and less, such is the versatility of the Crusader.
Best of luck!

I'd go with JB Weld.
I've used this to fix a crashed motorcycle with a cracked casing, never leaked! Jim |

Clive, Thank you for the offer. I went for the basic one with just a temperature control. It's arrived today and looks perfect for my "needs"

I'll hopefully get something sorted this week.

I was hardening/tempering some small items last night. With a small "mapp" gas torch.
I'm thinking about a small mini kiln, around £360, as these would have plenty room for the things I make and the temp can be set, which should make hitting correct temperature easier!
Has anyone used one of these for HT?
Thank you, Jim |

"50w will not be much use, go for the 550w.
I just made up ally bushings for my fibre wheels.

This is my reminder not to but cheap rubbish. Repeating error, hence scrap. My digital Mitutoyo has never given any trouble! If money was no object, I'd like one of these, just because...micron mic Jim Edited By jimmy b on 04/12/2021 20:42:39 |
Thread: Buying stock? |

I'd recommend finding out what the post limit is on weight and just hitting that with a supplier.
I'm lucky enough to be a full time engineer, so have pretty much all I can want! When I do need to buy, I do use Macc Models (they advertise on here.
The heads up on off cuts is very real, we are purchasing a huge amount of Ø90mm EN24T, 2.1m long, that is going to be a very good off cut for someone!!! Basically, anything under a bar length (3, 4 or 6 meters) is costed at the bar length. Good luck. Jim |
Thread: So what design software will you use in 2022? |

I've got 1 more year left on my full Fusion360. I have downloaded all the usual free ones, meaning to see which one I can get on with, but never seem to have the time to fully try them out.
I'll most likely end up getting a 3 year deal when they are next on offer!
