I've lived in France for 20 years, now. 16420. Until now a generally positive life choice. As you've alluded to Bob, integration is key to being accepted as part of the local community I have had the occasional unpleasant experience, but that would say more about the individual, than their nationality. An interesting, or at least amusing, video from earlier today. He always puts up enjoyable vids! This guy is amazing. Many thank's for putting up that link NDIY. Just spent a couple of hours of enjoyable and informative diversion. Lucky the wife's away !! Here's another worthy one of his. I hadn't come across him before. ATB, Daniel

Hello Ian, It's a design from Stewart Hart. Look for "Potty Engineering". As far as I know, he designed three different engines aimed at beginners like myself. I was inspired by the recent thread of The Potty Overcrank. Let's see some photos of yours. ATB, Daniel

Thank's Dave, for your encouragement. I know that for many, it would seem quite basic. But, for me at least, it's a completely new adventure. I'm just hoping that I have some progress to report, and many questions no doubt. ATB, Daniel

Hi Adam, I've had a similar problem with my Weiss WMD30LV. The difference being that it was emating at the top of the spindle and rendering the rev counter useless. Having cleaned it a number of times, it does sem to have stopped now. Either run out of grease, or found anequilibrium. I'm not inclined to worry too much. Possibly the manufacturer was a bit enthusiastic when they applied said grease. HTH & ATB, Daniel

Armed with the drawings from Stewart Hart, I have made a start on the build. In the true spirit of trying to run before I can walk, I decided to have flanges on the cylinder. I'm beginning to wonder if that was such a good idea. I suppose, if it becomes too complicated, I can simply make another one. |

It may be that after long use slight wear has made the commonly used tapers an even better fit. Some form of elector system is the answer. Neil Uuumm .... At the risk of appearing daft, what is an elector system ?

Yet more sarcasm. Another good reason not to bother posting replies here, at least at a club you can avoid the annoying know alls who like to look smart but actually are not. Thanks for your incisive and well thought out input Daniel, very grown up. I sincerely apologise, if a little light hearted humour offends you so. I was, in fact, replying to Paul's post, just before yours. We must have hit the send button about the same time.

Just to add; I have just this week contacted Stewart for the same. He very kindly sent the plans by email. Looking forward to seeing your progress Chris. I'll post mine as and when there is any. Progress is a dodgy word in my workshop. All the best, Daniel

Thread: Chester 626 and Warco VMC spindle size |

Hi Adam, FWIW, I just tried a tanged MT3 in my Weiss wmd30lv, and it fit fine. It would seem seem that the spindle socket is short, but that appears implausible, unless all the models, in that series, are as such. Just to reiterate, have you tried turning the tool whilst pushing upwards. It is a very positive fit. ATB, Daniel

It seems that there are now four of us living relatively close to each other in France. Namely the Poitiers/Limoges area. Would it be an idea, to choose a mutually condusive place and date, to meet each other ? Perhaps a lunch, somewhere ? I, for one, would prefer to do this, before sharing too many details of where I live, etc. One of you might be a mass murderer, or just too plain wierd. Or, we may simply not like each other very much ... No offence intended, and I would love to meet some like minded people; but, not when I find him at the foot of my bed, wielding an axe, at three O'clock in the morning. What do you guys think ?
