Thread: Myford ML7 not running true and spirals |
16/10/2018 09:08:29 |
When I had spirals it turned out to be the headstock bearing caps were loose on my ML7. I tighten them up and the spirals went away. |
Thread: Can anyone identify this vice please |

Thanks Vic it looks like the company, I will investigate further. Amazing you found this. |

Can anyone identify this vice please. I cannot find any info on it at all, not even a website that mentions it. It has a logo of a vice in red with the name "Allen" above it. The jaws measure 6". |
Thread: D shaft inserts where to find them? |
12/09/2017 07:24:12 |
Thanks Jeff I'll have a look into these later. |

The shaft is from a encoder, take a look at the link to see what I'm talking about. The shaft turns extremely slow so plastic or brass would be OK. If no inserts are available I'll most likely drill and tap for grubscrew. Thanks for the ideas guys. |

I need to place a 6mm "D Shaft" into the end of a stainless steel shaft. I don't have any equiment to broach a 6mm D hole and I don't really want to drill a normal hole and secure the flat with a grub screw. Are there such things as plastic or brass "D" inserts that can be pushed or glued into a normal drilled hole. I've googled this and can only find ready made knobs which I could break up and retrieve the inserts. Thanks guys |

If you can find one the Sharp Mk2 Universal Milling Machine is a good machine. |

Thread: Just found a Binks Bullows Hydrovane compressor need help. |
26/02/2017 13:11:42 |
The dial on the compressor goes up to 50 psi so 45 psi sounds about right. |

Thanks guys for your input. John I'll post some pics on monday. Brian I had a look at findmanual.net but couldn't find anything. KWIL I'm not sure of what mark mine is but it has the serial number A15833. Just wanted to know if anyone runs their model engines with this compressor. Also where I could get copies of manuals, parts diagrams etc. |

I have managed to buy a very cheap compressor at as local auction. It's a Binks Bullows Hydrovane PR303E. I have tried to google any info and to be honest there's hardly anything out there. It needs rewiring as it was sold as having a lead problem but that shouldn't be much of a problem. I was hoping for a google link to a manual or a parts diagram but cannot find one. Does anyone here have this model of compressor. Is it any good for running models. Mick |

I have a disorder called Sjogrens Syndrome, I have the systemic type so a lot of my joints hurt when I'm going through a flare so I know exactly how you are feeling. I just stay away from the woirkshop when I'm feeling bad and make hay when I'm not.

Thread: Milling Machine Vice |

I had a second hand Warco 80mm vice when I first started and the same thing use to happen to me, I even stripped it down but it still lifted. Si I bought an Atlas vice from Cromwell tools, it was only £80 and it is a super piece of kit. So far no lift but the work must be knocked down pretty well.

Thread: Hi Folks |

Welcome to the forum Greg. I'm also from Nottingham and pretty new to model engineering scene as well, just kitted out my new workshop. I've yet to build any models, just making some tools at the moment.

Spent yesterday in the workshop making two drawbars, one for the Myford and one for the Sharp Milling Machine. They work great and will be a good addition to the workshop. They are both M10. The myford is the longer one. I made it so it goes through the hole in the door so I can have the guard closed while I'm working.

Thread: Need help on wiring a three phase motor |
05/12/2016 18:15:56 |
Cheers John so 3/4hp about right. So I'm looking for an inverter about 1hp. |
05/12/2016 18:09:50 |
Thanks everyone for your help Ok I understand what you are saying and it looks pretty easy to do. All I need now is to look out for a reasonable priced inverter. The motor doesn't say what HP it is. I've been looking around at other motors with a similar spec and they seem to be 0.55Kw or 3/4 HP. Is there a maths formula to work this out?
