Yes, somewhat similar to riding a bike over a pothole I have found. That unimportant piece of information now brings my post count to 100... Does that make me a centurion, a centenarian or possibly a centipede?

John

A centi-post perhaps ?

Well that had me on the edge of my seat!

Perhaps we should have a top challenge at MEX!

Who's up for it and can we make a spin-up machine?

Neil

I volunteer to spin them up with the traditional bit of string but only if the contest is held within 10mile of my hoose

Where are you going to get a bit of string 10 miles long?

amazing how folks can twist a statement to get the wrong end of the stick.

That would depend on how long it was, I didn't say how long the string was to be, only the stipulated the area of the country for the competition,

think i'll stick tae ma ain wey o Doric spikkin sos abdy kens fit am on aboot

Thread: Lidll

My last company did like J. Stevenson and kept the spare wheels of the replacement vans and fitted them on a specially home made carrier, I was the first to have a puncture and discovered the flaw in their ingenuity.

Replies on a postcard to .........

Thread: araldite.
03/02/2017 22:51:16

Answered on a postcard shaped bit of  my screen

Precision with Araldite shirley means that you can stick the bits together exactly where you want to, unless you mess it with precision i.e. the parts will be stuck in the wrong place relative to each other with no gap to get anything into the join to prise it apart

Maybe it could mean less cleaning off cos you won't get it all over the place like I normally do.

Thread: Corner joints in Plywood

Too high tech cutting nowadays, at work i use a rule or tape measure to set fences then cut in to an offcut, check the size and adjust if necessary and check again.

Seems to work every time spot on.

Thread: What's the best way of telling a poster he's wrong?
25/01/2017 22:37:46

I'm saying nothing as i have opinions on anything and everything, nobody seems to agree with me ( even in the wide world outside this forum ) so I read the forum and learn and adopt and adapt what I read and quietly get on with my life.

P.S. I have read all this thread, some good stuff in it and some dubious stuff (my opinion) and probably some of it downright wrong so I leave it up to yourselves to decide whats what and keep it to yourselves, unless I have got something wrong.

I've been getting quotes for perspex sheet cut into simple rectangles. Nearly a 4:1 range of prices!

Neil

Spent the afternoon doing exactly that the old fashioned way - 4.8 metres around rectangles with a tenon saw

only another 8.3 metres to go.

You want a quote from me - " do it yourself " smile

All them protons flying around in a vacuum in Trafalgar Square with excited Caesium at the speed of light is a bit of overkill to measure how thick a short lump of wood is to see if it is actually a plank. indecision
