Thread: How to upset the neighbours!

I would like to know how they got it through crash testing?

There is a company that is producing an updated MGB. It seems that it produces to an electrifying experience.

Ken Costello V8 B's were very much better than anything BL made and a lot faster!

Posted by John MC on 11/09/2019 08:01:34:

Can't say these truck engined B's do much for me, far to heavy up front! The V8 was a much better balanced car that should have been developed much further.

Send me the sizes and I will check my stock. I have never heard of a non standard size O ring and I have been working with them for over 45 years!

When I worked in Africa the workshop temperature was average 120F and the inspection room was 70F! We used to have a conversion chart so we could make the tolerances on the drawings. Assembly could be a nightmare when fitting bronze bushes into steel!

I would go with a 6BA stepped stud. That way you are not removing anymore material.

Why do offspring think they are entitled to inheritance? My parents left me sod all and I don't feel obliged to leave any money to family dependents.

Thread: M4 x 0.75mm pitch CSk machine screws
22/08/2019 23:15:21

Yes I agree. Working on early french cars has made my collection of metric taps and dies bigger than all my other taps and dies. I have 5 different size M10 taps!

Posted by Andrew Johnston on 22/08/2019 23:08:09:

A 4 x 0.75mm pitch thread was part of the old French standard for metric threads specified by the Comite de Normalisation de la Mechanique. Threads from 6mm diameter upwards conformed to the ISO system. The old French standard below 6mm has now been replaced by the ISO system.

It's for a pair of Cozette Blowers which are French, which is why it's an odd metric size!

22/08/2019 20:40:37

I know!!!

Posted by JA on 22/08/2019 17:47:51:

This is not a standard size. M4 x 0,70 is Metric Coarse.

Have you checked the brushes? Bosch grinders have a sprung loaded pin in the brushes, when it wears down the pin pops out and lifts the brush.

Do you know what is in the caustic solution?

Posted by David George 1 on 20/07/2019 10:02:49:

If you plate or other coat bolts and cap screws etc you can cause embritalnent or lower the tensile strength of items but there is no change to steel strength or structure with blackodising which is done by diping in to a caustic solution at 135 deg which causes a black coating Fe 3O4 which us rust preventative no change to steel structure. That is why Unbrako blackodise their cap screws.

In the oil industry they have pipe lathes with spindle bores up to 18"!

Thread: What hand protection do you use?
01/08/2019 21:35:45

None! The skin on my hands is very thick & tough and I lack sensitivity to hot surfaces. On the odd occasion when I have visited A&E to have cuts stitched up they curse like made as they struggle to get the needle through my skin!
