Thread: What Did You Do Today (2017)

Yes Geoff, I have them on my Boxford shaper, never quite sure if enough oil is getting where I want it, short of dismantling the machine to remove them by driving out from underneath how can they be removed? When I got my shaper it was stripped and these oilers were blown through to clear and they seemed fine now am not so sure

Thread: Centering square stock in the 4-jaw

I saw a chap on utube (  forget who ) put a piece of flat material on each face of the square stock and secured with a strong rubber band and use a dial indicator on inside faces to centre stock

Thread: Harold Halls QCTP
06/10/2017 08:51:22

Hi folks,

Been thinking for a while about a QCTP,  decided to have a bash at Harolds design, I have made a few of H's projects and they have all worked fine for me ( thank you Harold) spent yesterday drilling and tapping 60 holes in toolholders, 4 per holder shown in design but decided to fit 5. All going well so far

Sorry Howard but why not key the saw to arbour? I always do, any jamming of saws/cutters due to too heavy cut the belt will slip preventing any damage, worked okay. I don't understand

I have an 8" Boxford shaper,it has none fitted,a lot of shapers do,on the whole does the panel think they are a good idea or not. Not having them fitted means I can see oil being ejected so at least I know that oil is reaching the slides

How about cutting the bar down short enough to pop in and put a hinged joint to fit the other half to, put the shortened length in, lift up the top half and in she goes. Just needs a tenon on one half and a slot on the other pinned to keep diameter the same throughout it's length

Forgive my ignorance chaps but can these inverters be plugged into a normal single phase socket or do they have to be connected to the house mains switchbox ?
