H.E.A.T

At a guess the two temperature bands are permitted storage temperature and permitted usage temperature.

The wider limit for storage.

regards Martin

.

Pretty sure the H.E.A.T stands for the Milan being High Explosive Anti Tank.?

Fair points Dave.

But if a superheater line is broken does it flood back into the cab.?

Nick

.

I wonder if others could help with a little discussion I had today.

While chatting about the cannon and rocket ground strike attacks of WW2 performed by Tempests among other aircraft I mentioned that when the gun camera film showed quite often a sudden plume of steam erupting from the funnel it also meant the crew was dead.

Reasoning being that for it to do such in so violent a way it most probably meant that the superheater line had been hit. Thus the high pressure superheated steam would escape into the smokebox and out of the funnel. This steam would also be flooding back into and through the fire box and in to the cab and flash cooking the crew.

The other party seen to think that they would probably be OK providing they were not hit directly or indirectly by shrapnel.

Opinions please.

That got me looking for Wilesco kits.

Over the past month I have noticed that both astronomy accessories and many model engineering bits are cheaper to buy from dealers than to but on eBay.

The same is true of the D415 kit which I found about a tenner make that £20! cheaper from a dealer's internet shop.

Interesting...

It will be due to (I imagine) that they have to pay ebay a commission for the sale. - Ebay 'can' be quite expensive for retailers. Even more so if payment is made by paypal.

LOL! You've swapped photobucket for our image server!

Great set of pics, Nick.

Sitting on that handwheel looks potentially hazardous...

Neil

.

LOL .......... Never used Photobucket. laugh

Yes hazards. The place was full of them. But with this being held in a rural area HSE inspectors are stopped at the gates, chopped up and spread onto the fields with the slurry.

I also saw some very disturbing things in the form of children wearing overalls covered and coal dust and oil. surprise Then horror of horrors some of the children were actually driving engines.!!! wink

Went to Astle park engine rally today (In Cheshire under the shadow of Jodrel Bank) So took a camera. Have also shot some 'shakey video' wink which I will upload tomorrow.

Lots of steamy chuffy things, Static engines etc, along with classic cars and motorbikes. (did not get round them)

Very good event but parts of it are quite commercial as they have to be these days so that the sums add up otherwise the event would be a none starter financially. Lots of stalls selling everything from bric-a-brac to keep the ladies happy to junk (new) tools. There was also a fun fair for the ankle snappers.

I will start with a self portrait.

They were in a turret on top of the fuzzy were they not.? - Perhaps they are yet to be added. cheeky

Like the BP Defiant seems that very few survived. Looks a lovely machine though does that. smiley

There is an Elliot radial arm drill in the video plus the drill banks.

Washing machine and tumble dryer. - No idea what they are used for. Perhaps just stored.?

"My own youtube channel" ............ Ha.!, I said I had access to the machines. I did not say I knew how to use them. cheeky

One bonus of such a shop is that there is virtually every test kit, tool, drill, reamer, cutter etc, etc all put away sharp and all top quality ready to use. I have also spent quite a bit of time there recently and have learned considerably by just watching and talking to him while he works. The place is a total visual jumble yet he seems able to put his hand on any item within seconds. - No.1 rule is whenever I use something is I put it back EXACTLY where I found it.!

Denis served his time with this company **LINK** where they had a dedicated training school. From there he went to British Areospace not far from Chester.

This is not my workshop.!

Some of you may have seen that I had to move my machines a couple of months ago through me moving out of where I was living. I was offered garages and containers to store my machines in until I get a new place sorted but a friend of mine said I could store and install them in his workshop if I wished. - This I think is much better option to be in a working 'oily' environment against being in storage. Plus of course I can still use them and the other machines in the workshop.

I promised a member here I would make a video of the workshop. Hopefully others will find it an interesting man-cave also and will provoke some discussion about the machines etc.

At one time (not so long ago) every town would have had several small 'jobbing' engineering machine shops such as this. - Now most are gone.! Visitors here are polarized. They either totally love the place, it's machines and a man actually making things or are truly horrified by the mess, metal, oil and truly feel that their eyesight has been violated.

Anyway ....................

Some of you guys maybe able to help me.

I have a 2001 CB600 FS Hornet that needs some new brake pads. I cannot find out if to order Sintered or organic pads.?

I know the later ones will probably use sintered but not sure about the earlier ones like mine and I hear that the disk rotor has to be designed for sintered or will be damaged. Or is this an internet myth.?

Cheers, Nick

key just acts to locate the item on the shaft such a timing gears/pulleys.

.

Motorbike flywheels and timing gears often have such as they may house the ignition sensor magnets. Quite common for such an engine to also have a 'wasted spark' in the cycle.
