Thread: Which lathe to keep
26/01/2017 13:52:56

i have a clarke cl430 and a southbend model c 9" ( just need a new workshop).

but once i get set up again plan on making an adaptor for each so i can swap chucks between both.

can you not do similar and keep your raglan?

not sure if idea will work but will be giving it a go soon as up and running again.

Thread: MEW lathe sander
08/01/2017 12:05:08

Looking at that unit it is a nice thing, but the big problem for me with a sander and lathe combo is - sand. On the ways, finding it's way in between the saddle and ways etc. I am currently trying to prevent a sand blasting cabinet being sited in the same room as a large lathe for the same reasons.

So putting a motor on it seems a good course of action to me.

that's why i want to put motor on it.

Thread: 0.750x40 tpi thread.

in MEW there is project for screw modification tool that is threaded 0.750x40.

i know in article it says use what you have but my taps go up m16 then start again at m24 or english equivalent.

couldn't see that size on tracey tools when i looked.

prob me not looking right.

what size is it?

like the idea of belt sander in MEW for lathe.

is there any reason i couldn't put a motor on it and use it as free standing sander?
