Thread: pillar drill advice
30/11/2012 18:45:02

Hi David,

For £60 there is a number of drills that would fit the bill. I've just purchased a Clarke Metalmaster S/H for £40 & happy. Saw a Draper, similar spec. in our local tool store Abran Tools @ £59.99 Looked Good. (After I had purchased of course).

Thread: Tool Post for Myford ML7

Hi Phil,

Nice photo, you sorted that.

I have a ML7 too, sounds like good advice to remove the ratchet, mine has never lined up square. I will remove mine. It can't be a bad thing, the toolpost moving away from the work (Under extreme circumstances). Better than a hole in your head!

Hi Phil, Paperweights! Can you modify them so that they function? If you are able to cheat, turn the top slide a little until your toolpost is square mit the chuck, simples.

Tool height, pack them up with shims (washers, coins folded £20 note etc).

A Weihrauch HW100 is a nicely machined PCP air rifle.

A cheapish car / lawnmower 12volt battery could be the answer, it would last years, topped up with a battery charger. Plenty of smooth amps at your finger tips.

Siddley, Interesting that you are a gunsmith. Do you work on PCP's as well. I live close to Daystate Ltd.

Hi Dougie, I purchased two off ebay, different sellers. The H.T. coils were 12v & used, but OK.

Hi Siddley,

"If it was me I'd probably make that in sandwich form using gauge plate. Not the cheapest route, but possibly the easiest."

Any chance of borrowing your crystal ball?

Maybe I need some new specs.

Uilleann pipes, Interesting. Had a look on Youtube. This bear is not musical.

What will the main material be, just wondering if a wood turning lathe would have been a better option.

Pipes, would they be Pan Pipes or Smoking Pipes? Bears can be a bit nosey.

Hi Michele, Welcome to the forum.

As an ML7 owner myself, I'm sure Graham has identified your problem. Are you into model making?

May I just say, having put a PC mouse to to sleep, removed the encoder bits. Don't forget the steel ball, it's easily drilled and makes a useful knob. You all knew this of course.
