There is a distribution centre for Hermes in our yard at work.

It is a free for all every day and all types of vehicle and people fill the yard and try to load parcels into their vehicles.

We have watched stuff being crammed into their vehicles stuff dropped presumably breaking the items inside. The company is a shambles.

I have the wm18 with the dro. It’s suitable for my 5” loco modelling. I usually have the dive lock nipped up a bit when I dive into a cut. I would always drill a hole first then put the slit drill down it.

Bigger stuff I do at work on a Bridgeport. Things for my 4” traction engine.

Yesterday I made some parts for hydrostatic lubrication and they came out ok even with winding the head height up and down.

I bought a drive for the table from Warco. It was NOT a direct fit so be warned If you decide to buy one.

All in all it suits my purpose and I get what I want from it

Made at a price to suit home use if I had the space I would look out for a Bridgeport

Strange but in our area HD9 the services have improved. Postman is now coming before noon every day where as before it was around 1pm.
Milkman is still annoying at 2.30am clanking up the road.

Thank you for the replies. It all helped.
I did overlook that one turn of the handle may measure 2mm but it’s taking 4mm off the diameter. Once I realised that. I was on the right road.
The button that I must have pressed was1/2 which I took as a selection of one or two. This actually divided the measurement by half, so half of 8 was the four I was looking for and half of that which was the traverse movement gave me the result. It took me about an hour to stop laughing.
I am not bright at the best of times 🤭

Clive you are right it was strange. But it was me who made it so. I can get carried away and should have thought about it more instead of pressing buttons straight away.

Last night i accidently pressed a button on my readout and was not sure how to go back to get out of it, so like a fool i pressed anything on the panel. This was the wrong thing to do, call it a senior moment.

The x axis for one turn of the handle on the lathe gives me 2mm travel.

The readout now only shows 0.8mm of travel for the full revolution of the handle.

Readout is a Sino SDS6 -2v Unit.

Can anyone guide me as to how to re-set the calibration so that one turn of 2mm travel shows the same on the readout please?

The Y axis is fine??

Any help appreciated.

My Warco wm18 saw a little TLC today.

The rubber cover had perished over the years and cracked into two parts.

Nice new one fitted made from silicone.

The new power drive that i fitted in December is working ok. Saves my arms a lot of work. For the money i think it a worth while piece of kit. If you buy one make sure you give Warco the serial number and they are not universal fitting.

I have re positioned the limit switch and at the same time cut the box so that the cable comes out of the side. I did not like it being scraped along the bed when moving the table in the Y axis.

Hi. I have a Chester crusader de lux. It took me a while to get used to it.
made to a budget and some bits are pretty poor. The chucks are massive. Overcame this by buying blank d4 plates and mounting smaller chucks and collet chucks. Be care full to leave the back plates as long as possible as the lead screw cover prevents you winding the apron up to the new chuck.

I could go on but up until yesterday it’s run everytime I turn it on.

Dro is a bonus and improves your accuracy.

I would go for the Warco if I was to change as there more suited to modelling.

Really miss my 5” model A metric Boxford

I have to agree with Brian H, its very nice.

It would make a change from Locomotive parts. And you only make one part not multiples.
