I hope this is ok I am not a member of the club as yet but it might happen one day.

I have seen many posts of UK shows and events and thought why not for those who might be visiting or wishing to know if there is such down-under.

Hawkesbury is west of Sydney about an hours drive heading towards the Blue mountains at the base of really.

I hope to be going and will take what photos I can.

Thanks Raymond !

I have been wondering when a local show would be run as everything I see in the local model engineering mags seem to be about Melbourne .

Looks like I will be going for a drive that weekend !

LOL don't feel bad I did the same some time back about another show they were talking Newcastle of course I thought ok nice 1hr's drive from Sydney till I looked at it proper it was Geordie Newcastle. That wouldn't have been a problem could have called in to see all the relations still there.

Weather permitting of course (supposed to rain).

I'll be easy to spot just look for a Bright blue wheelchair.

Nice to have met you and your wife also Raymond.

True it was only a small show but I bet most clubs wouldn't know it exists so maybe some advertising may help.

I didn't mind the trains as I always marvel at the detail they put into their layouts and watching a few people sift through the old copies of Model Engineer was priceless , I was waiting for an argument to erupt but fortunately every one kept their cool !

I was amazed with the model rc trucks and spent 20 min or so talking to the guy about these , it was amazing how they set them up and even the sound module was astonishingly realistic - they even have a vibrator unit to make them shake when idling !

unfortunately there was a distinct lack of steam powered models , IC engines and Planes but I suppose they can only accept what ever turns up.

i occasionally go out to the model park at Luddenam on their open day to watch the loco's,traction engines , planes and RC buggies get a run .

They have a bit of room there and it would be nice if a couple of stalls were set up so people could buy stuff .

Other than that there is Steamfest up at Maitland and here you can go for a ride on a steam train ,check out some models and buy stuff at the stalls.

I got my double choc top ice cream cone so I was happy !

Ian you are right it was an excellent small show I wouldn't have been thee as long if it had not of been. Arrived at about 9.30 left about 2.

Love train displays we took the kids to see the Train show at Liverpool last year they have asked to go again his year granddaughter included.

Did you spot on the large table near the corner where we met the 2 IC engines he had more in a crate under the table all for sale. Stared at about $200. I liked his laser cut rail cars.

Those RC trucks were a hit I have taken video of much during the day have yet to down load it and do some editing will post a link somewhere soon.

I am keen to get into IC small engine builds but taking on more projects ATM isn't happening until I clear the bench of work in progress.

Do you know of any other local model shows?

The fellow who was selling near the RC trucks was telling us Panthers are having a show soon.

Ok I will keep an eye out for the panthers show but other than that there is not much in Sydney that I know of .

i know there is a sewing and knitting show each year at rose hill along with the camping and fishing show and these are packed out for two weeks running ,even if they tacked some sort of model exhibition on to them it would be better than what we have now which is basically zero in the way of shows .

the model park at Luddenam do an open day once a month that is usually fun to watch .

If you are into woodwork as well maybe model boats / ships would work in well for you and they have the lake there as well to run them on - you would of course have to be a member though.

Ian I know the miniature steam rail clubs have special days. Illawarra Gaulstone the old blokes from Hare & Forbes, Blue Mnts and then there is the various Steam clubs like the one at Hawkesbury we went last yr a top day. Campbeltown/Menangle these also had small IC engines on show.

Yes the various crafts shows Sue has been to ad I have gone along at times, just as she does with wood shows etc for me then agin being my driver LOL.

The one at Luddenam has always been tempting ever since they were originally at St John's Park many moons ago. To join there is just way out of our budget. I am hoping youngest son might tho.

The Model Engineering show coming up in Victoria is I have been told excellent lots on and plenty tempting stalls to buy from.
