Dear all

i have a part built 3" scale Marshall single cylinder traction engine, and I have no time to complete due to circumstances at home having changed.

The build is to spec, from drawings supplied from Brunell models, please could someone give me details of a good engineer to finish this engine off too the standard it had been started.

any help will be very welcomed indeed.

regards

harvey

Wow Harvey
Firstly harver welcome,
A very big Q.. Most of the people on this forum are well into there own projects, I am currently restoring a 3" Fowler "The Wanderer" for our club and to say a bit of a beast is an understatement.
You do not say how far it has been into the build, what parts are still needed and I may be well shot down in flames but are they no longer tradeing...
good luck
Bob

Hi Bob

i do hope your wrong about Brunell models as I have not bought the cylinder yet

today I have been given a name of someone who may well take on my engine, but I have only a name and no number as yet.

so now my quest involves seeing if Brunell is still trading?

good luck with your project also.

I have seen this at exhibitions, they seem well into model Traction Engines etc.

Alan at MJ will only do the odd bit of machining particularly if it snot for one of his engines, very unlikely he will take on the majority of a build.

Brunell are still trading though sometimes takes a while to get bits from them.

If the cylinder is not done yet there must be a fair amount left to do, you will likely find the cost of the manhours needed to complete the engine far outweigh its actual value which is something to bear in mind.

What part of the country are you in and how much has been done, if things like the gears and flywheel are complete then the remaining work is likely to be within the capacity of more peoples machines.

All gears and main drive shafts are finished and fitted, including bearings etc, diff, winding drum, smoke box, chimney smoke box door etc all on and working, boiler made by Bell.

rear wheels rolled and welded, spokes half fitted, rear hubs finished, including hub caps, flywheel completed and fitted, firebox door fitted,

Some flanges and valves fitted.

probably more but its been a long time since I went in the workshop.

i thought everyone could see my profile and see where I was based, maybe being new I need to look into that part, as I thought it was available ?

im in St. Albans Herts .

ps, I just got a call from Graham, asking me to list everything as he has three others waiting for castings, he said he will be happy to supply me what i need and so there's hope I can get all my castings, and just concentrate on getting my project finished.
