Hi again gents

My latest problem is that I need to replace the chuck on my Walker Turner drill press. The chuck on there now is a rather worn Jacobs keyed type but I want to change to a new keyless chuck now. The chuck that is on has 6A33 stamped on to the body.

Myford can supply a chuck that is JT33 taper but they cannot guarantee that it will be the same fit as my original chuck marked 6A33. They have supplied me with dimensions of their taper which appear to be the same but can anybody clarify this for me.

Is the 6A just a model number of the chuck, What is the 33 relevance.

I can find referance to other chuck tapers on the internet but struggling with this one.

Hoping somebody can clear this up for me

Cheers

Dave

With nothing better to do while Eastenders was on the telly, I just trawled the internet and found a

"DCP-3 1/32"-1/2" Drill Chuck with 33 Jacobs Taper Mount"

available on Amazon (USA). OK, it's a keyed chuck, but the nomenclature indicates that it is a standard Jacobs (like the originally-fitted one) taper. Over to you .......

Hi Dave,

Why not consult the Jacobs site? They should have the definitive answers rather than opinions.
