1/4 bsp tap

just for a laugh really this post. the other day i purchesed a 1/4 bsp tap and every thread i cut with it came out over size even tho i was using the correct tapping drill size so i measured up the tap and yep its over size so i buy a set of presto taps taper second plus so now i have 4.........

then after i got this set i rembered about my other box and went in there and found anougher 5 so yep i now have 9 off 1/4 bsp taps feel like a right mellon

anyways thats my day

Sounds a bit like my wife when she goes shopping never checks the cupboards first and walks round thinking I better get 2 of these. When I unpack for her I say but you already have 4 of these. Oh well never mind.

Mich been there cap, T Shirt and lots of spares in the workshop, even ended up with 2 rotary tables at one point I got carried away at a club auction.

Michael,

Worth bearing in mind that ISO metric taps are always over nominal size, by design. Don't think this is generally true of imperial taps though.

you were using a parallel thread tap and not a BSPT
