Stop valve part 52 is shown as a general arrangement only without dimensions.
 
ME 4421 p116/117
Straight link part 62, the text states 3mm Dia. x 12mm long. Should this be 3mm Dia. x 20mm long.
As an alternative method just use 3mm Dia. rod
 
Bracket part 60. How deep should the 3mm wide slots in the bearing housing be.
What is the dimension for the centre line of the bearing housing be in relation to the bracket.
As an alternative method for the bearing housing, drill each end of the bar 6mm x 15mm deep then bore each end to take the bearing. That way you do away with the Spacer part 67
 
Governor, where does the return spring fit.

The fully dimensioned stop valve parts are in 4421
 
I make the overall length 19mm 4+14+ (0.5x2) So text should read turm 3mmx 15mm long as thats the length of square section required
Yes it could be made from 3mm stock
 
Slots in bearing bracket are 2.5mm not 3mm and ctrs are given as 4mm, slots go right through as they are for fixing bolts.
 
Centreline is 29mm from left edge. the inner edge of the L/H bearing is in line with the shaped cut out so 22-6=16. 16/2 =8. 8+21r=29.
 
Picture 90 shows the spring in position

I was referring to the depth of the slots in the bearing housing that the bracket is silver soldered to.

Thats upto the builder really as long as you end up with the flat part 84mm from the edge of the bearing housing thats what matters even then you have a bit of leeway due to the slotted fixings. The groove is only to help keep things in place while soldering.
 
So if you cut your plate to 85mm the slot will need to be 1mm deep, cut it 86mm and have a 2mm deep slot. Remember to set the centre of teh 21 & 29mm arcs down from the top of your plate by whatever length you go for.

Really silly off-topic question, but your 'avatar' seems to be the same picture as the ghastly logo on the Buck Hickman lorries? Is it some sort of mutant Easter Island head (I understand they had topknots and eyes on the originals)?
 
Again sorry for going OT but this question has been bugging me for years (Buck Hickman, not your avatar...)

My avater is an Easter Island Moai as you guesed.
 
We had an holiday in Chile a few years back and visited Easter Island:- when first built they had topknots and eyes made from white coral, then they started to fall out with each other and distroy the other clans Moai (like distroying your mojo). My avatar moai is one they recontructed, using origonal bits with new eyes, loctited in place.
 
The best Moai is in the British Musium the Victorians were not only great at building Engines they were good at pinching stuff as well.

Not as good as the Elizabethans!
 
What i still don't understand is why the Buck Hickman lorries have that strange psychadelic version on their lorries!
