Finished a Stuart Twin Victoria some time ago, now it's done and running what do I now do with it ? Too big for an ornament and just taking up room in my workshop. Thinking of donating it to to the Long Shop Museum, Leiston.
Do any of you chaps have similar problems once a project is finished ?
Had great enjoyment from making it, once done game over and lets get on with something else. David

Hi David, you can always post some photos of it on here, and enter it in the MEX, either in the competition or the loan section. There is of course the Midlands exhibition as well.
Make something it can drive is always another option.

Hi David
Sell it on Ebay and use the funds to buy another kit to build.
Waste of time donating it to a museum.
Most have too many exhibits and can't display them all and they can't afford to insure them so often ask the donaters to give some money to pay for the insurance.

No. But then again I haven't finished a modelling project yet!
 
But when I do, the hit 'n' miss petrol engine will live in the sitting room and I expect the traction engine will live in the kitchen.
 
Right, enough time wasted, back to the workshop.

If you donate it to a museum, they will probably sell it at some point anyway.
 
Do you not have any children in the family that might like it, and look after it ?

I am looking forward to getting my Stuart No 4 finished - I can then get on with the boiler and a generator for it to drive.
It will all be mounted on a smart base so I can have it running on the sideboard (although I haven't told the wife yet!)

I've built a single Victoria and it is a shelf ornament:
 
 
Too much effort and time to make this to consider selling it!
 
I have two Stuart's I will build to plan and sell (D10 and James Coombes), but not my Victoria.
 
I also saw the note in EIM today requesting models for entry into competition - the pitch was that your model would be insured from home to show and back home and that their security at the show was best in class. BUT if I lost my Victoria, it's simply not replaceable and that's why it won't be sold (or left to someone else's care).
 
I did meet a chap who had built a twin Victoria to customer order - it was to be used as a clock winder!!!
