Has anyone come across a machine like this before? (see photo) It has 3 crompton motors, 1 to drive the grinding head, 1 to drive the workhead and 1 to drive the lapping plate. The workhead on my example has 2 pratt burnard 5 inch scroll chucks mounted on it and swivrls on a mounting that is graduated in degrees. This assembly can bev moved longitudally along the bed via a leadscrew. the grinding head has 2 wheels (one on each end) and moves across the bed. It also has a coolant system supplied by a gearwheel type pump.
The machine is of 1970's vintage and is in perfect condition. I have a notion to convert it to another use, any ideas? the photos are scanned from the manual, I will post better ones when I get my camera fixed.

1723 forum posts | Set up refurbing fuel injectors Nick, the price they charge for a "Replacement injector" makes it viable in these recessionary times. Last saw one used 45 years ago when we used to REPAIR things.

883 forum posts 11 photos | With the various drives and motions available to you I'd have thought you could have sharpened or made just about any cutters on it and given them a mirror finish to precise size on the lapping plate. Should also be able to do cylindrical grinding probably small scale surface grinding as well. |
