I want 2 off, Iron Castings from one pattern about 9" long.
Problem is finding suitable Iron Foundry.
Can anyone help, please?

2292 forum posts 159 photos | Hi John, There is a chap near Epsom who does metal casting as a hobby. He has a website so you could email him to see if he would be prepared to do the castings for you. This is his website. The Artful Bodger According to "Autoroute" it is about 45 miles away from you so it may be too far. I bought his book on building a furnace which is how I know about him. I hope this helps. Les. |

2292 forum posts 159 photos | Hi John, I gave you duff information in my last post. I was going from memory when I said he lived near Epsom. I was reading his book on building a furnace and realised I had made a mistake. He lives near Epping which I think will be too far away from you. Sorry for the error. Les. |

Thanks 4 your reply. Iam aware of MJ Allen as I used their long-closed "Haven Foundry" in Newhaven, some years ago. I got impression from their literature that Ashford were only interested in big orders like thousands of car brake drums/disks.
regards,
john. |

24 forum posts 1 photos | Hi, I gave up trying to find a local foundry (in Scotland) - so sent my patterns off to Andy Dean (AJD FOUNDRIES, BRIERLEY HILL, WEST MIDS) - cheaper including the carriage than any other quote, even those where I would have to collect! They were quite large (~7Kg each is gray-ductile), but not intricate, and I was very satisfied with his work, can't say what he is like for smaller and more intricate work (mine were simple one-sided - cast in the drag type patterns) A web search should bring his details up, but PM me if you are struggling as I have his phone, email and address - I just don't want to post them up here J |
