I know the difference between Whitworth,BSF,Metric and UN threads but what form are AF threads composed of, I know AF means across flats but there I am stuck.

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | There is no AF thread, but it is sometimes wrongly used as an abreviation for "American Fine " which should be refered to as "National Fine" for which the abbreviation is NF or UNF
AF is as you say a referance to the accross flats size of the bolt or nut hex head.
