Hobbymat Lathe

Dear Members,
I would appreciate any advice as to where I can obtain any new and spare parts for the Hobbymat MD65 Lathe.
Also is there any connection between the Hobbymat and Unitech lathes.

Yes there is a connection you can see from the first sentence
 
E-bays a good as place as any to look, also Homeworkshop

was supplying spares for MD65 about one year ago.  He said there was a newer version
SD300 which  might be downwardly compatible.

 Thanks Tim, I am aware of the company and am already in contact with him for various bits and pieces.
I was just wondering if there were any others  I could have contacted so as to compare prices etc. as I have always been advised to do so if possible.

Thank you for the reply Jason, and for the conformation that there is a connection between the two lathes.
The Homeworkshop link you suplied looks like it could be useful in the future.

 Hi Graham,
No problems, I must have been lucky in getting a couple of Members who chose to give my request some thought, and reply, though I myself expected more Members to respond,as obviously you did.
I hope that the replies given by Tim and Jason were of some help to you as they were to me, as I have ordered some components from Stephen Lacey a few days ago, and expect delivery in a couple of weeks or so.

Hi,
 as a second hand MD65 owner too, I'd be glad to share experiences with anyone on this site. I'm a beginner, but have adapted a chinese 4 jaw and am looking into adapting a fixed steady as well.
 
I've not needed any spars yet but   have contacxted - stephenlacey who seems to be the man. I probably need a metal 20T gear soon as my plastic one is getting a bit worn/mangled.
 
Its a quality machine. Not sure how it would compare to a Sieg C1/C3, but it does most of what I want it for. Could do with a mill or milling attachment  for it, but that's for later when funds permit.

Hello Paul,
It would obviously be very useful to keep in touch on this Forum to swap details of what MD65 users are up to with their experiences etc. of using the machine.
I looked at buying the mill attachment but have decided against it and gone for a seperate vertical milling machine so as not to interfere with turning operations.
Stephen Lacey does know an awful lot about the MD65 lathe, and is always willing to talk about them and accessories available for them.

Hi Chaps,
 
Just bought mine today for an absolute song, trouble is, it needs some bits and pieces (screw cutting gears, tailstock chuck, Chuck keys) but looks like it has been unused and has sat in a garage until the last owner sadly past away. Very little use.
 
I take it that a lot of stuff is standard sizing (tailstock chuck for example), but for the screwcuting gears (and indeed the knob that engages the drive!) I have a feeling I will need to speak to Stephen Lacey.
 
Is there a number anywhere for him?
 
Jeez, can a man be so happy as a man with his first lathe? Even if it isn't an ML7 and might need a little cleaning...right, where are those plans for a 1/4 scale merlin
