Hi folks

I've joined up to try and find the name of a brilliant model maker who made models from his home in Willesdon, or Harlesdon, north London, not so far from Wembley. I'm writing a book with John Barnard, of F1 engineering fame, and John has described to me the amazing models this man contributed to Model Engineer back in the 1940s. Can anyone help?

Nick

Try this web site and look in the history page http://www.hwsme.org.uk/history.htm you may find a lead for what you are looking for.

Thanks Stick, that may well prove helpful. Much Appreciated, Nick.

PS: Would anyone have any old copiesof Model Engineer  from that era that might include his work? If so, might you find the time to glance through them. I know this is a ridiculous longshot, but apparently he was fairly regularly featured, and John remembers he specialised in building working model internal combustion engines, motor torpedo boats (about 5ft long) and locomotives (about 6ft long)

There are a few indexes of Model engineer mag on the web. A quick google will bring them up. You should be able to find who you are looking for as they give the model subject and author.

Could be Edgar T Westbury he has several IC engines designs and a couple of books on boats. Percival Marshall also did a torpedo boat

I'm a bit late on this thread but I just wanted to say my husband is clearing out his dad's magazines and many are from the 1940's. I remember reading Percival Marshall's name. The ad is on the classified page.
