Are there any steam boat owners/constructors which make their own patterns and casting in or around Oxfordshire.

I am also would like to know of any model engineer who do their castings at home who would like to do some castings for me of my own designs of patterns.

Hi There
If you look on Ebay you might find some casting firms who will do castings for a reasonable price.

If you do the engine, please consider writing it up for Model Engineer magazine.

What size of castings are you talking about, also what material. I have a homemade furnace and can do most metals apart from cast iron. If you were interested in making your own furnace it can be done quite cheaply

Hi John,

I work for Swan Foundry at Banbury and if you need assistance let me know.

We have just completed a full size cylinder for a Fowler Showmans engine.

Best regards

Keith
